Making it:
1) Web site - yes, we think you must have a web site. Think about it...how often do you pull out the phone book to look for a business? People search online and you want them to find YOU. At minimum, have a simple landing page.
2) Social Media - for now, Facebook seems to be the way to go. It's free and can help get exposure for your business. But you have to utilize it. Post photos of new merchandise, give interesting info, make friends with your clients!
3) Newsletter - so you have the contacts...now what? Communicate with them via a newsletter program. It's a great way to reward loyal followers and clients, show new product photos, promote an event.
4) Customer Service - if you don't have this you may as well jump ship because your boat will sink. Even though we are recovering in the economy, people are not spending frivolously. Earn trust and keep clients. They are your best advertising.
5) Promotions - you have to promote your business. There is no "if you build it they will come". Utilize your web site, newsletter, social media, networking events, etc. Plan a promotional campaign tying in all your methods of talking to customers. Consistency in your advertising brings recognition to your biz.
I hope these 5 tips have given you a bit to think about. Maybe renewed your energy to get out there and make something happen.
