Destination White Point
| | Latest release by author Frances Jewel Dickson | |
NOVA SCOTIA & BEYOND - DESTINATION WHITE POINT was on the threshold of publication when fire ravaged the main lodge November 12, 2011.
The author, Frances Jewel Dickson, revised her manuscript to incorporate the circumstances that surrounded the tragic event and the ambitious recovery program that followed.
DESTINATION WHITE POINT draws on the oral history of former and current staff and guests, some dating back to the 1930s. Stories of supernatural manifestations are related, many attributed to haunting by Ivy Elliot, wife of Howard and co-manager of White Point Beach Lodge for some 40 years.
The reader follows the evolution of this internationally popular resort over more than eight decades, from its beginnings as a hunting and fishing lodge for well-to-do sportsmen, to a seasonal family destination, to the last three decades as a still rustic yet state-of-the-art facility complete with conference centre and time-sharing capabilities.

Pat Watson launches new book!
| Launching June 21 at Second Story
LUNENBURG - 20 WINNERS AT THE GAME OF LIFE was borne from the desire to empower women to tell their story.
This is a collection of short stories from women in all walks of life. Success is not defined in terms of money or material possessions. Success is defined as a state of being; an inner feeling and knowing that you like the person you've become.
Some of the South Shore women in the book are: Sue Bookchin, Susan Borgersen, Jennie Carton (graphic designer for the book cover), Dawn Higgins, Dawn Harwood-Jones, Darlene Sanford and Pat Watson.
20 WINNERS AT THE GAME OF LIFE was co-directed by Kaye Parker (Halifax) and Pat Watson (East LaHave). Join them for the book launch on Thursday, June 21st - 6-8pm at Second Story Women's Centre, 22 King Street, Lunenburg, NS.
Please RSVP to Pat Watson at 902-766-4511.
