Happy 90th Birthday Rudy!
 NOVA SCOTIA & BEYOND - On Saturday, March 31, 2012, in Halifax, friends, colleagues and family gathered to celebrate FON founder Rudy Haase's 90th Birthday.
A 45-minute concert included some of his favourite music, performed by some of his favourite musicians. This was followed by tributes to Rudy - patron of the arts, environmental and social activist, sailor of many seas, proud Nova Scotian, friend and neighbour.
On Earth Day, FON members planted 90 each of white pine and hemlock on Clay Island.
On April 29, a group of Friends went on a four hour, four km. hike sponsored by the Chester Municipal Rec & Parks Department. Brad Armstrong led the hikers through rough terrain off- trail, exploring some lesser known areas of Card Lake Park.
Next? "Clean Across Nova Scotia!"
Clean Nova Scotia is coordinating the biggest cleanup in NS history on June 8 & 9. It is part of an international collaboration that aims to deal with litter and dumping through grassroots community engagement.
To date, 91 countries have signed up - 100 countries and 300 million people are expected to participate. Clean Nova Scotia is the official contact for Canada, and the first province to take part. It anticipates over 25,000 Nova Scotians to join and support this initiative.

An exhibition by Youth Arts Bridgewater
Thursday May 3rd to Thursday May 17th
This exhibition is part of the first-ever nation-wide celebration of youth-led creative expression and community involvement. National Youth Arts Week, a project of the Arts Network for Children and Youth is being co-ordinated locally by HeartWood Centre For Community Youth Development with help from the Lunenburg NSCAD residency and support by United Way of Lunenburg County.
