December 2007
Jodie & TasWelcome to our last e-news of the year!

November was another great month for LuckyDuck. We were delighted to be contacted by  Ian Smith & Lea Nicholas  - two terrific entrepreneurs who wanted us to completely re-do their website. Be sure to click on their link in our lead story and learn about their remarkable service!

We also kept busy working on a number of websites including one for a Nova Scotia icon (!), another for one of Canada's top photographers - and a third for a very fine woodworker.

Visit our updated  website - don't forget to "refresh" when you click on the link (hit the F5 key as each page comes up to ensure you have the latest version).

Check out this month's festive Nova Scotia Photos.
Also our updated LuckyPals
 - we're saluting four remarkable Nova Scotians who make a difference here and further afield - in alphabetical order: Anna Davison; Jeanette Reynolds; Rosmarie Bradley and Sharon Rhyno

And we've posted a new page - Lucky's e-news Archive.

until next time, wishing you Health, Happiness & Peace

S.M.A.C. - Start Making Abilities Count!

NEW GLASGOW - Changing one mind and one heart at a time. S.M.A.C. Workshops are an innovative series designed to transform attitudes.   Participants are inspired

to take new approaches to daily interactions. To move beyond labels and live in (pos)abilities.

These thought-provoking and inspiring workshops are developed, and led, by S.M.A.C. co-founders Ian Smith and Lea Nicholas. They share life experiences that shock and inspire workshop participants. After years of analyzing these situations, they decided to make a difference.

The enthusiasm of their participants demonstrates they're doing just that.

lucky's on purple Charles Lantz Cabinetry - another fabulous kitchen!
CLC cherry wood kitchen

 Charles Lantz kitchen
MAHONE BAY -  Two years ago, full-time residents Cathie and Kelly Nelson built their dream home. They called on Charles Lantz Cabinetry for his expertise, vision and strong design-sense. They wanted a cherry wood kitchen,  as well, CLC created an elegant mantel for their living room fireplace.

"The crew was great," recalls Cathie. "Very polite, very customer-friendly, they aimed to please and were pleasant to have in the home. They're always very helpful - even at the shop. Good customer service - that's from Charles and his staff."

lucky's on purple Phil Creaser - 1st Nova Scotia builder to use "Inspire" shingles
From pop to roof top!
Phil Creaser builderLUNENBURG COUNTY - Phil Creaser of Philip Creaser Custom Homes (PCCH) and his four-man-crew are using a new product: Inspire Roofing shingles made out of recycled pop bottles. In fact, they're the first in Nova Scotia to do so.

"No glue, 50 year guarantee, withstands 120 mph winds. No waste," says Phil. The left-over, partially used shingles are returned to the Ontario manufacturer where they're turned into new shingles.

Phil's impressed. "I'm thinking they'll out-last their guarantee," he says. "You know how long a pop bottle will last - you'll see it 20 years later and it's still the same."

PCCH used Inspire on their latest project - a 3500 square foot log home. The huge logs, harvested in Northern Ontario, filled two tractor trailer loads weighing  in at 55,000 pounds/load.

Father Christmas
MAHONE BAY  - Despite a bitterly cold North wind, Allan & I enjoyed our  photo shoot last weekend at Mahone Bay's Father Christmas Festival.

Many thanks to the merchants who went all out to make their town such a festive destination! Our photo of this wonderful Father Christmas was taken at Amos Pewters.

The Festival is continuing this weekend with plenty of indoors and outdoors activities.

lucky's on purple Lucky talks web design - look first!
Look before you Leap!

Father ChristmasBefore launching a new website, take a long look at your future. Where do you see yourself in three years? You could be surprised.

One of our clients started with three pages two years ago. Gradually, over the months, we've added more content/pages until now we've come to the time where we need to re-develop her entire site . . . and are looking at 36 pages!

Set up your website navigation and structure so you can easily and quickly build on it when the time comes - and it could come much sooner than you think!

CSS rules!

We always recommend using cascading style sheets (CSS) but especially if your product/service changes frequently, for example, with the seasons. By using CSS you can apply a new colour scheme throughout your entire site by keying in the six-digit code of the new  colour - doing so once - it's like magic!
Read some testimonials regarding our detailed, written critique and re-new strategy of, and for, a website . . .
