Welcome to our October e-news!
September was another great month for LuckyDuck: New services; New friends; New stories and New clients!
For the first time in a long while, we haven't launched a new website in the past month. Not to say we've been slacking off though - we're close to launching two sites and we're in the thick of another two sites!
Visit our updated October website - don't forget to "refresh" when you click on the link (hit the F5 key when the site comes up to ensure you have the latest version). Check out this month's Nova Scotia Photos - we received a number of great comments on last month's people photos and so this month we have more. Also our updated LuckyPals - for the next four weeks it salutes more fun - at the Mahone Bay Scarecrow Festival held over the past weekend.
Please forward our e-news by clicking on the bright blue Forward email link at the bottom left of this newsletter.
until next time, best regards
Jodie Turner

Visiting our clients at the show
|
I was delighted to attend the first
My original purpose was to back our client Rosmarie Bradley of Helping Nature Heal. Talk about a fun photo-op!
Rosmarie did a workshop each day - the first on organic gardening. On Saturday, she lead 25 people through the process of building a bird feeder from found objects - every participant took home their own feeder. On Sunday she discussed Horticulture Therapy.
Adding to my day was connecting with another client, Jude Law of Katie's Farm - Canada's first - and only - certified organic bakery for our favourite cats and dogs. And it's the only operation to grow its own ingredients.
Congratulations Jude on recently upgrading your entire line as a 100% wheat-free product!
And Congratulations Rosmarie on introducing a new generation of people to the Helping Nature Heal way!

She's going to have a busy fall with workshops and teaching, but we're sure she'll make time for painting too!

Tobias Lange, 20, in the news! |
| Carving a five-tonne church . . .
The Seventh Day Adventist Church in Tantallon called on Tobias Lange of Lange's Rock Farm to carve them a granite two-dimensional monument to commemorate their historically significant, original church. The congregation is the oldest continuing Seventh Day Adventist congregation in the Maritimes and the second oldest in Canada.
Tobias thought he could do better than that - and so he did. The sculptor carved a three dimensional granite replica of the church 1.4-metre long by 1.2-metre high. It's on Longards Road, just off of Exit 5.

| Photo shoot at Crescent Beach! |
CRESCENT BEACH - Harry and Sharon Rhyno were thrilled to have their four grown kids all at home at the same time. Kevin flew in from Toronto, Ellie from Australia, Amanda, soon to head West just made it and Jayme took a short break from the office.
We met the family at the beach for an early evening photo shoot - what a great time!
Seeing as last month a number of subscribers said they enjoyed my people photos, I thought I'd share a few from the Reunion.

Lucky talks web design : Branding |
|
Hey there e-news subscribers! I've been thinking about branding the past few days. I absolutely agree that having a marketing strategy featuring your brand is a smart move.
It seems, however, that we can get overly bogged down with branding. Don't get me wrong - I Love our logo - and am proud to have it on business cards, website and hard copy advertising. In the past few months we had it applied to our car doors - and I soon realized there was something not quite right. It took me awhile to figure it out - then one day, while looking at the car from across a parking lot it came to me.
The slightly darker-than-normal purple box made things worse - Lucky was disappearing big time. What to do? Finally, it came to me - it sounds so simple - remove the box.
Now our LuckyDuck can be spotted from a good distance - and isn't that the point of advertising on our vehicles?

|
Don't let absolute brand loyalty muddy your message - sometimes, given the format, it calls out for a bit of a change.
Contact LuckyDuck with a web design question and we'll respond right away - and we may feature your question in next month's e-news! Read some testimonials regarding our detailed, written critique and re-new strategy of, and for, a website . . .
