Start Making Abilities Count!
Lea & Ian of SMAC
We were delighted to take part in an Entrepreneurs with Disabilities workshop in last month.

The participants attended an informative session on Dressing for Success, then had a photo shoot with LuckyDuck. They were a fine group and we enjoyed hearing their stories. Take for instance, Ian Smith and Lea Nicholas  of S.M.A.C. - Start Making Abilities Count.

They deliver customized sensitivity training. Their workshops focus on how to interact with people with (dis)abilities.  They provide practical solutions to everyday situations.  Increased awareness leads to improved customer service.  Participants increase confidence, and team building is a natural result of the S.M.A.C. Experience.

"Our vision," reads their website, "is the creation of a compassionate and inclusive society.  It is our intention to transform attitudes and serve our community through advocating, listening, sharing, coaching, and teaching.  We will do this with integrity, honesty, and passion.

"Changing one mind and one heart at a time to start making abilities count."

This month, we're doing something different. We're devoting our entire column to Squidoo - an electronic community made up of lens. We see it as an opportunity for many of our subscribers and clients: artists, writers, entrepreneurs, organizations . . .

A lens is one person's view on a topic that matters to her or him. This easy-to-build, single web page can point to websites, blogs, favorite links, RSS feeds, Flickr photos, Google maps, your eBay auctions, CafePress designs, Amazon books or music . . ..

Build one lens, build 100. It's fast, fun, and free. And you could earn a royalty - for you or charity -  nearly half of all Squidoo Lensmasters donate their royalties to charity.

Note: Yes, it is fast, but can be a challenge as well for the techno-newbie!

Why build a lens?

· Share the knowledge
· Increase your profile
· Increase your traffic
· Earn a royalty for you, your organization, or your favorite charity

Since Squidoo is free to use, it runs a few Google ads and SquidOffers on its lens. Each time someone buys a recommended product or clicks on a Google ad, the lensmaster gets 50% of the royalties.

Some are in it for the content and not the money, they select one of Squidoo's 80+ nonprofit partners as recipients of their royalties. Other lensmasters fundraise for charity, and group up to send thousands of dollars to their favorite organizations each month.

Check this link if you're a Nonprofit and you'd like
to work with Squidoo to spread your story and raise funds from lensmasters.

Spread awareness for your cause and fundraise at the same time. Rather than asking for money, ask your supporters to build a lens on a topic that matters to them - from global warming to charity walks to their favorite music. With links pointing back to your site, featuring your logo, or pulling in your RSS feed. Each lens could earn a penny, a nickel, a dollar a day for your organization. And spread the word.

You'd also earn a $5 bounty on every successful new lensmaster you brought in.
Ask for their voice, not their money.

Contact LuckyDuck with a web design question and we'll respond right away - and we may feature your question in next month's e-news! Read some testimonials regarding our detailed, written critique and re-new strategy of, and for, a website . . .
