NoRush Farm - Healing Hooves Project |
Horseplay for healthy hearts & minds!
|
FARMVILLE - The Healing Hooves Project (not-for-profit) provides children, youth or adults, who otherwise would not have that access, with a chance to experience the healthy energy of the horse-human bond.
Horses, in their unfiltered, honest approach to life, are wonderful teachers - especially for young people navigating the maze that so often challenges the growing up process.
But also adults who have lost touch with their inner core or lost perspective on what constitutes an emotionally healthy life, benefit greatly from the interaction. For more information, visit the NoRush Farm website. |

Simple re-design tips
| |
A web site, to be effective, is home to change - in fact - welcomes the opportunity to say something, and do something, differently. Re-designing a web site can be as big - or even bigger - a job as starting from scratch. |
|
|
| |
But web site owners can make a real difference with simple changes. Each month, we're going to make a few suggestions based on actual sites we've seen. |
Linking your way to credibility
Google is biased towards websites that inform their visitors. By including links to related, relevant, quality websites you boost your credibility - and visitor appreciation.
By including links to other pages and sections of your own website, you give more than one way to explore the site.
Don't date yourself
Most websites reference their product or service with the number of years in business. That's a good thing. But if you say, for example, "We've been in business nine years," your website visitors won't be quite sure if that's true - after all, you may have forgotten to update that number when the year turned over.
Much better to say, "We've been in business since 1996."
Make it easy
When encouraging visitors to call or email, make it easy for them to do so. "Call us at 888-444-5555 or email us today!" Set up email so it's hot - a click on it generates an e-mail form or launches the visitor's default e-mail application automatically.

June Help! |
| Printers Part II |
BRIDGEWATER - Shaun Swim of Intelligent Choice Computers further explores the ins and outs of smart printer shopping in this month's Help! column.
He discusses printer quality and price per page. And includes his thoughts on a key reason smaller computer shops better serve the consumer than big box stores.

Salt of the Earth |
| Support your local growers & producers - shop Farmers' Markets! |
|
NOVA SCOTIA - It's that time of year again - the Outdoor Farmers Market Season - m-m-m! Fresh produce, gardening delights and scrumptious baking, cheeses, the freshest fish and finest preserves . . . fruit, vegies and berries - and when they say grown "locally" they mean just that.
Recently we were pleased to re-new our acquaintances with the vendors at the Thursday Morning Farmers Market in Lunenburg.

Lucky's Photo Page: June 07 |
| Homeward skies in Nova Scotia |
KINGSBURG - This month's photo collection puts a skyward focus to the page. Very little text - the images speak for themselves.

Rory was a "Greyt" Dog . . . and Tas is too! |
Rory, 1995 - 2007, loved to go on photo shoots. In 1998, we adopted him from Greyhound Pets of Atlantic Canada and we never looked back!
More recently, we learned of Tas Black Magic. At nearly eight years of age, despite his fine health and youthful personality, it would be difficult for GPAC to find him a family . . . What else could we do but welcome him into our home and our hearts?

Charles Lantz Cabinetry launches feature of the month |
LUNENBURG - Charles Lantz Cabinetry is launching a new Feature of the Month on his website. His first is about a totally new kitchen in an older Lunenburg home. Its painted Shaker cabinetry demonstrates CLC's typically well-executed design with smooth-as-silk finish.
Carol Morrow of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, wanted her new Charles Lantz kitchen to reflect the style and age of her 1925 home. "I didn't want a reproduction," she notes, "I wanted to be respectful of the house, but fully functional . . ."

Invitational Quilt & Art Display & Sale |
50 quilts, 80 pieces of visual art plus a bazaar - all under one roof!
|
LUNENBURG - Central United Church in Lunenburg needs a new paint job - so they're calling on artists to lend a hand.
Their gigantic Dreamers & Doers show will be held this Saturday June 2, from 10 am - 4 pm. Featuring 50 quilts and 80 pieces of visual art, the event will take place in the sanctuary.
Artists will include Buz Baker, Yves Berube, Cheryl Corkum, Susan Hudson, Sheila Lewis, Janet Mason, the Purcell Family, as well as photography by Helen Forrest and Jodie Turner.
But that's not all! The church hall will be home to a big bazaar: coffee shop, children's corner, plants, BBQ, books, new-to-you items, baked goods, crafts and more!
Funds raised will help pay for painting the church. |
Black Duck Gallery opening this Sunday |
| Little Books by Tom Muise
|
| Lunenburg's Black Duck Gallery & Gifts carries fine crafts, treasures and jewelry year round. Their gallery, open May-December, shows varied works by Nova Scotia artists and artisans. The latest exhibit, Little Books by Tom Muise, will run June 3 - 22.
"I was fortunate to have a wonderful childhood," says Tom.
"I still follow the child that walks inside me. I hope with these little books the child inside you will be touched by the child inside me. Children live in the present moment and so are happy."
Little Books' opening reception will be June 3, 1:30 pm. Everyone is welcome. | |
