Greetings!

December was another exciting month for LuckyDuck: New services; New friends; New stories and New clients!

We have web sites in progress and web sites pending for the New Year!

Remember the "fabulous new restaurant" I mentioned last month? The mystery continues, but you'll be pleased to hear progress brings us closer to its Grand Opening . . . Grand in Atmosphere and Grand in Flavour thanks to its well-seasoned Chef and knowledgeable Sommelier who's expert in the world of wine.

For now, that's all we can say ... but we'll keep you posted!

Please visit our January web site - check out our this month's winter photos our new LuckyPal and our brand new page - Lucky's Small Business Directory!

bstrgrds,
Jodie Turner

LuckyDuck delivers php "poetry!"
Lloyd Williams Lucky's Allan Malinen was called on recently to add php server side scripting to an already existing web site for Lloyd Williams. The author, international speaker and workshop leader for more than 50 top financial service firms is also a coach for a select group of executives and entrepreneurs.

His request, the changes, delivery and testing were all done through e-mail.

PHP is a scripting language used in creating dynamic web pages. It is particularly helpful when web page content is separated from page design. A good example of this is a page listing products and prices.

PHP enables the product/price information to originate from a separate source such as a data base or a spreadsheet csv file. A well designed and implemented site allows a business owner or manager to easily update the product/price information him or herself.

Many entrepreneurs would rather not call their web site designer every time a price changes!

Here's the message Lloyd sent to LuckyDuck:

"Hello Allan,

It is posted and working well . . . I like how cleanly your code is written. When I look at the page source it is clear and very easy to follow.

Code is poetry and you are a fine poet.

Thank you"

Thank you Lloyd, it's been a pleasure!

Salt of the Earth
Lucky's salute to Organic Entrepreneurs!
a baker smiles Every month, we say "Well Done!" to the people who enable us to bring healthy organic food to our tables.

This month's standing ovation goes to Jean-Marc Riant of Boulangerie la Vendéenne, a certified organic - and authentic - French Bakery.

Jean-Marc Riant grew up in La Vendéenne, France. His mother believed it was important to feed her family good, healthy food. Today, the entrepreneur's bakery continues the tradition with certified organic breads.

Although certification means more paper work, more cost and more time - re-certification is done every year - "for me," he says, "it is very important."

Lucky launches new small business directory
full moon setting We're pleased to include a Small Business Directory in our web site. As with our other special pages, we'll be updating it each month. We look forward to it growing as a useful resource.

If you have a business that serves other small businesses and are interested in having a reciprocal link with LuckyDuck, please contact us!

First Lucky collection for 2007
shadow of dog walking This month's Lucky Photo Collection explores the scenic shifts brought to us by the winter elements.

Lucky's Nova Scotia Links will be displayed throughout 2007. Festivals, history and sight-seeing opportunities are sorted according to the month. By clicking on a Lucky link you can access more detailed information.

If you have an event or an interesting service you'd like us to list, let us know and we'll do our best to accomodate you!

We'd really appreciate it if you took up the invite! We won't save your recipients' e-addresses or anything else about them - and that's a promise!
