Is the United States of America a Christian Nation? |
|
I suppose there is a time in every man's life when he needs to stand up and be counted. I am not one who generally gets involved in political matters. There are just so many varied opinions that it does not make sense to argue them all. Variety and diversity do make the world go 'round. But I do need to say that I believe our Commander and Chief has misspoken on his view of the United States both from a historical and cultural perspective.
Here is what he said at a press conference in Turkey shortly after his inauguration. He said: "Although we have a very large Christian population, we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation; we consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values."
I believe just a cursory look at our founding documents and our history will will validate my analysis. God of the Bible does not want forced conversions. He allows you to make your choice based on free will. Our founding fathers utilized Biblical principles to forge our independence. They left their tyrannical homelands to create the Land of the Free.
From a percentage point of view, more mosques are being built in our country than Christian churches. That can happen in this country because individuals have the freedom of choice. See what would happen in a middle eastern country if you were proselytizing Christianity or trying to build a church congregation. As a minimum you would be placed in jail. The worst case would be that your next of kin would never find your remains. God is love and love creates and nurtures life. The world is sin and sin leads to death.
There is also another religion you need to be aware of in the United States of America. It is the largest religion in the country. It has it's churches in every community and their combined pastorate dwarf all the pastors of all Christian denominations in the country combined. That religion is secular humanism; it's churches are the public school system and it's pastors are the teachers and administration contained there in. Make no mistake; that religion will be getting stronger in the near future with billions of dollars being poured into their coffers by the recent government legislation.
I have a strong desire to beseech all who are called of God to get off the side lines and follow the passion that the indwelling Spirit has awakened in you. This is a call to action. Take advantage of this current opportunity to earn your degree, receive a certificate or just take a course which will strengthen your foundation in the Word of the Living God. |

A Word About Accreditation |
|
CTS is not accredited by any of the 40 or so agencies authoried by the Department of Education. There are a number of reasons for this. First of all, the process of accreditation is a very lengthy and costly one. The requirements for library, real estate, endowments and faculty would make it very difficult for a school with part of its mission to offer affordable tuition to operate on the budget of that size. Obviously, costs would be passed on to the student. The other part of our mission is to make our education accessible. No school with "government accreditation" will allow you to earn your degree totally by distance learning as CTS does. You would need to make a trip to campus or another locale for some type of "intensive" training.
Most students can ill afford to quit a job, relocate and procure a loan burden to go to an "accredited" seminary. The Barna Group estimates that the average size church in the United States has approximately 100 members. Not all of those go to church on Sunday. The monetary benefits of working at a church would probably never allow for repayment of a large educational loan. Certainly there are mega churches, but comparatively speaking, they are few in comparison.
And let's be honest. Why receive a diploma from a schoool accredited by one of these agencies that does not even believe in Creation? Remember, Jesus told the accreditors of his day, the Pharisees, that they were hypocrites and a brood of vipers!
Approximately sixty percent of CTS students are already in the ministry. They are looking for content, structure and credentials to enhance their skill. If it is imperative that one graduate from an accredited school, then there are certainly a number of them available. But if you are not looking to be a Chaplain in the military, then take a hard look at your motives for seeking an accredited school. My discovery over the last ten years is that it is basically an educational paradigm issue. If you are a mature learner and self motivated, then you should have no problem with completing any of our seminary programs and be better off for doing so. |
