Are You Worried Over the Economy? Greetings from your friend in Christ,
This is a good question. It is hard to escape the impacts that it is having on everyone's life. Some people have been affected more than others, but we are all feeling the effects of graft, overspending and the lack of personal responsibility. I just want to remind you of one thing. That one thing is that there are two economies in which you operate. As you know, as Christian's, we are in this world but not of it. We do have to operate in the world's economy and we all know who runs that. But there is another one, God's economy. The Liar will do anything to keep you and the world down. He wants you to be miserable and left without hope. Just look at your 401(k) or your pink slip.
Our nation is a Godly nation founded by people who literally risked their lives to set up our form of government. Just think of what would have happened to the the signers of the Declaration of Independence if things had not worked out like they did. Those signatures could have led to death warrants.
But even though things are changing in our country today, and organizations are strategically attacking our founding principles, remember this: God's Plan never changes! You full well know that you are going to be a Victor. Whatever course that He has placed on your heart to follow, follow it! Whatever goal, whatever path, don't get swallowed up in all the talk, or all the charts, or all of the indicators. Each of us must keep The Light unto his or her own path regardless of the Deceiver's plot that has well been disguised as the Economy.
In His Grip,
Dr. Gary Tryzbiak
President

Mrs. Lena Chapman - In Memorium |
Lena was married to Dr. Delbert Chapman, CTS' Chancellor and Co-founder. She was very active in the seminary and instrumental in its formation. Lena Lucille Chapman was born Lena Lucille Wilson on January 12, 1927, on a farm near Meeker, OK. She was the youngest of eight children born to Samuel S. and Maude Ann Wilson. She attended the Kikkapoo School until she was eight years old. She and her family moved to Las Animas, CO where she lived and attended school until she was about 17 years old. She had to drop out of school for one year and take care of her mother who was suffering terrible bouts of kidney stones. During her senior year her family moved to Milford, TX so that she could attend the high school division of Southern Bible and Vocational College. She graduated there as salutatorian of her class, missing being valedictorian by one-tenth of a point. She then attended North Texas State Teachers College, Denton, TX where she obtained an approved high school diploma. Lena returned to SBVC for college classes and there met Del Chapman who was returning to college after a two year absence. The two of them fell in love and were married on February 2, 1947. They were a month away from having been married for 62 years.
Three children were born to this union: Cynthia Jeanine, who was stillborn at full term, Roger Del, Patricia Lynn. Lena entered into eternity on December 28, 2008 about 5:00AM. She very quietly, in her sleep, without any struggles just stopped breathing. She was the last surviving member of her family. She is survived by her husband Del, children Roger and Patricia, five grandchildren, Chloe, Rachel, Leslie, Tiffany and Lonnie and one great grandchild Lili and a host of other friends and relatives. Lena had continued her studies and in 1999 she graduated with a Bachelor of Theology degree from Colorado Theological Seminary. She was very active in church work and was co-founder of Church of the Cross, along with her husband Del. They pastored the church for 31 years. Her unselfish untiring work and love for people made it possible for the church to be a success. She touched the lives of many people and will without doubt receive a great reward.

General Seminary Update |
|
In our last newsletter to you, we mentioned we would have an Alumni Website. Although this is true, it is taking a little longer to create than we had anticipated. We are going to call it the Seminary Club. It will be for alumni, students and friends of CTS. This site will contain a number of areas of interest. You will have the ability to upload your personal information and a search facility will be available to find students, alumni and other Christians of like mind in your vicinity, with similar interests, education or aspirations.
We already have a couple of sponsors who will be advertising on the site. There will be benefits as well. You will have access to discounted services such as those from DentalPlans.com and Assurant health insurance plans. You will also be able to save on tickets, travel and shopping with Working Advantage.
There will be discussion forums for business opportunities, job opportunities and general interest. This site will be designed to keep students and alumni connected to CTS and to form a Christian social networking gathering place. With your participation there will be no telling what kind of relationships or alliances that will be formed for the betterment of The Kingdom. Christians and students from other seminaries and bible colleges are encouraged to join.
This project should be completed within the next month. A link will be placed on the CTS website and many students and alumni be receiving an email with your password and ID.
In case you haven't noticed, we have added two Certificate Programs to complement our Degree Programs. We have six Undergraduate College Level Certificate Programs that will result in a seminary certificate. We understand that many individuals may not be interested in earning a degree. These programs will offer that alternative. Additionally, one can use those credits toward a degree at a point in the future.
CTS is also offering a Personal Enrichment Certificate Program whereby individuals may earn a seminary certificate for each course taken. No credit is earned in this program. Please click here to view the new offerings.
Don't forget that we offer an Online Bookstore. It was designed for student convenience. Books purchased through our Amazon.com bookstore will provide us with a small percentage of the sales. The bookstore is always being updated. Additionally, by using the Amazon.com widgets from our website, you may purchase any items, not just books. This will also work to CTS' benefit at no additional cost to you.
Some students prefer to pay their tuition by the month rather than by the course. We have designed a program with the help of Nelnet, a premier college financial organization, which is used by many schools across America. We call our program the eCashier Program. Click here to view our brochure and the options available.
We have also created a new Shopping Cart. Feel free to browse. Remember, you do not need to have a PayPal account in order to use the cart. Just use your credit card if you wish. In this instance, PayPal is just acting as a merchant account gateway.

Enrolled Students - Time to Get Back on Track? |
Has it been a while since you finished your course or needed to order another one? Have you forgotten who your mentor is? No problem. Just email us and we will get you back on track. There are no penalties. We understand that life has a way of keeping you busy. You owe it to yourself to finish your program.
Students.. Is paying your tuition by the course difficult for you to do at this time? Then consider our eCashier program. If you are already involved in a degree program and would like to transfer to the eCashier payment schedule, then do not hesitate. Just sign up for your program and pay the stipulated down payment. Once you are enrolled we can work out a repayment schedule that will work out for you based on your remaining balance. |

Military Discount - 10% Off Tuition |
If you are an active, retired or honorably discharged service person, you will be entitled to a 10% tuition discount upon providing CTS with a copy of your discharge certificate, DD 214 or ID card. On top of our already very reasonable rates, you will be able to afford a quality Christian education.
Dr. Chapman (USMC) and Dr. Tryzbiak (USAF, USN) are both veterans and hold service men and women in high esteem. |

Online Bookstore |
Please visit our online bookstore. This is a very robust application, the intention of which is to support our student population. We continue to add books on a regular basis. Recommended books are aligned by degree program and course. However, alumni and friends of Colorado Theological Seminary are encouraged to use our "ship to your door" Amazon.com associated bookstore. You can buy new and used books and resell them back if desired. Magazines and software are available as well. In many instances shipping is free and there is generally no taxation.
Additionally, when you are in the bookstore, you can click on the "powered by amazon.com" logo in the upper right hand corner and you can enter amazon.com and purchase anything you wish. The seminary will benefit slightly from your purchase. |
