This is the first edition of the Swim A Mile Snippets. The Swim A Mile snippets are event updates, reminders and helpful tips to help you maximize your Swim A Mile experience. I will be emailing them out each week. If you don't want to receive these Swim A Mile Snippets just let me know and I will take you off the list.

We have 5 weeks left until the big Swim A Mile for Women with Cancer. We have registered over 200 Swimmers - which is great for this time prior to the event. We expect to host 550 swimmers October 2nd and 3rd. Thank you again for swimming to benefit women with cancer and the Women's Cancer Resource Center. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance or answer any questions.
Fundraising Tips
How are you doing at raising your $350 individually or $600 if you are swimming as a family? If you need assistance be sure to email me with questions (ali@wcrc.org). Our
website also features lots of good tips.
One helpful tip is to use Facebook to help you fundraise You can use your Facebook page to let your friends know that you are swimming a mile for women with cancer. Your status updates could alert friends to your fundraising and swim training progress.
And don't forget for those swimmers who raise over $1000 in pledges we will be rewarding you with an awesome Swim A Mile sun visor.
Swim Training
And how is your swim training going? Having problems with your stroke? Or are you wanting to learn how to do a flip turn?
The Mills College Swim Team will be offering three separate swim trainings for Swim A Mile registrants in September to help swimmers reach their goals. The trainings will be held at the Mills College pool. One clinic will be taught each day, lasting an hour and a half. You are free to stay for as long as you can.
Swimmers will be split into Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert learning groups (individual lessons are highly likely depending on how many swim team members are present to teach). Each group will have individual lesson plans based on what the swimmers want to learn (examples: breathing, body position, flip turns - etc.).
There is no fee for the trainings. You are invited to make a $5.00 donation to WCRC. Please let us know if you will be joining us by emailing
swim@wcrc.org. Please indicate the date of the session that you will be attending.
The following is the date and time for the three clinics:
Saturday, September 11: 9:30-11 am
Sunday, September 19: 8:30-10:00 am
Friday, September 24: 6:30-8:00 pm
If you are bringing children and they are not participating in the Swim A Mile or the training sessions, please do not leave them unattended or intend for them to free swim. We do not have enough lifeguards on duty to allow them to swim outside of the training sessions.
