News From The Women's Cancer Resource Center      April 2010
Greetings!

April 1, Call Your Legislator
Don't Be Fooled: No More Cuts to Women's Health

Shortly after the House's historic vote on sweeping legislation to overhaul our nation's health care system, President Obama declared: "This is what change looks like."

While we celebrate progress at the federal level, Californians face considerable gaps in health care and additional cuts in the upcoming budget. Proposed cuts endanger the Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program, Every Woman Counts Cancer Detection Program, Family Pact and many more.

Please speak up on April 1 by calling your legislators to let them know that we do not support any more cuts to women's health care and to please not vote for these cuts.

Click here for a list of legislators by zip code in the San Francisco Bay Area and their phone numbers.

Bowling Fundraiser for WCRC

You are invited to the Women's Cancer Resource Center's Family Fun Bowling Day fundraiser on April 11th, Noon to 1:30 pm or 2:00 to 3:30 pm. Check-in 30 minutes before your scheduled start time.

Enjoy a non-competitive bowling outing at Diablo Lanes, 1500 Monument Boulevard, Concord, CA.

Everyone is welcome: kids and grown-ups, beginning and experienced bowlers, young and not-so-young.

We offer two ways for you to participate in WCRC's Family Fun Bowling Day fundraiser: by "renting a lane" for your group, or as an individual.

For a $125 donation, you can rent a lane for 90 minutes for up to five people. Or, for a $25 donation, you can register for yourself and we'll assign you to a lane with other "singles."

Everyone who participates gets free instruction, free pizza and ice cream, and of course, free use of those funky shoes and colorful bowling balls.

And as an added bonus, your donation makes you eligible for drawings for door prizes. You can win a brand new bowling ball, free games, Round Table pizza, and more.
Whether you're renting a lane or entering as an individual, you must register and pay in advance in order to reserve your lane. Choose your start time -12 noon or 2:00 pm - and plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early to check in. We will accept walk-ins only if space is available.

Not a bowler? Not a problem. You can sponsor your kids, your co-workers, your neighbors, your church group...the possibilities are endless.

Remember: this is a non-competitive event where the only goal is f-u-n. Everyone is invited. Come bowl and help the Women's Cancer Resource Center!

It's easy to sign-up. FIRST, send me an e-mail (philregan@comcast.net) to let me know you'll either be renting a lane or reserving a spot for one or more individuals. In return, I will e-mail an entry form to you. THEN, send your donation of $125 (per lane) or $25 (per individual) and your entry form to:

Women's Cancer Resource Center
Family Fun Bowling Day

Please write "Bowling" on your check; we will e-mail a confirmation to you.
