News From The Women's Cancer Resource Center      December 2009
Greetings!

HelenPlease join us for the second annual Gifts of Healing event being held at the center from 6:00 - 9:00 pm on Friday, December 4 here at the Center.

Gifts of Healing celebrates each of you as members and supporters of a powerful healing community. You will be feted with music by Destiny, Harpist from the Hood, wine, sparkling water and hors d'oevres. Our fabulous silent auction is a great opportunity to get a head start on your holiday gifts. Individual tickets are $50 and tables are $300.

Community at WCRC takes many forms: through support groups, the work of our Community Health Advocates and Comadres, cultural and healing arts programs and even Board and staff meetings. The spirit of community always includes some combination of music, art, story-telling, food, laughter and passion for our cause.

As a small, but heartfelt token of appreciation for your place in our community, each guest will leave with a beautiful bouquet of VeriFlora Certified Sustainably Grown flowers. These flowers convey our thanks for the grace you bring to the center and embody the beauty of the community we seek to build.

I look forward to seeing you!

A Native American saying suggests that "It takes a thousand voices to tell a single story." I am asking each of you to be one of those voices. As you gather with your family and friends in the coming weeks, please let them know about the work of the Women's Cancer Resource Center and what our community has meant to you. Invite them to come by the center to attend an art show, join our monthly cooking club, take a writing class, and even Swim a Mile for Women with Cancer. And if you are asked, please let them know that there are many ways to lend support for the programs we offer: by giving generously, volunteering and considering Board service.

And please take a few quiet moments to read this wonderful article by Rachel Trachten for the East Bay Monthly. It tells our story beautifully.

As ever, I thank you for your friendship and support of the Women's Cancer Resource Center. Your generous hearts make it possible for us to sustain our mission and create the healing power of community.
