| News From The Women's Cancer Resource Center July 2009 |
Greetings!
Gentle readers, thank you for responding to last month's readership survey. Your gift of feedback provides us with numerous ideas for improving content and readability. Here's what you told us: Nearly all of you like the new design, prefer receiving the E-Bulletin monthly and (much to my surprise) read my monthly message (although it can stand to be shorter). You like reading information about WCRC programs, events and fundraising activities and suggest that we dedicate a "gratitude" section to highlight supporters of the center. You ask for more testimonials about how donations support our clients, features about ways to support the center and articles about the politics of cancer. You are also very interested in learning more about self care and nutrition. While many of you want more programs and information about the environment's impact on health and cancer, we need your help identifying specific topics that interest you. We are strongly committed to environmental justice and want to offer events about the politics of cancer and environmental connections; it has been difficult to do this since we've had to cancel several programs in the recent past because of lack of signups for the events. Your opinions are very important to us and we want to create a dialogue with you. Please stay in touch and let us know what you think by emailing margo@wcrc.org or me, peggy@wcrc.org. Politics of Cancer / Environmental Justice
Cancer Bitch with Sandi Wisenberg Thursday, July 16th, 7-9 PM Sandi once thought breast cancer activism sounded boring, but she found herself airing her evolving opinions as well as her cancer experience on her blog, which is the basis of her recent book, The Adventures of Cancer Bitch. Wisenberg has harsh words for the medical establishment's indifference and for corporate-sponsored pink-ribbon campaigns that fail to sponsor adequate research into the environmental causes of cancer. Register with margo@wcrc.org or call 510-601-4040 x111.

The New Fantastic Film about the Food Industry
For anyone interested in the impact to our environment, workers, farmers & ourselves of what we eat this film is a MUST SEE. It presents a lot of information that has been kept hidden about factory farming, genetic engineering, healthy eating vs. fast food and much more. It is a very well-made documentary.

WCRC signs on to eliminate wasted resources from junk mail
ForestEthics is working to create a Do Not Mail Registry, like the Do Not Call Registry, to eliminate unwanted junk mail. This registry would give people a choice to stop receiving junk mail and would have a huge positive effect on our climate and forests. For more information about the Do Not Mail Campaign, visit www.donotmail.org.
