| News From The Women's Cancer Resource Center |
September 2008 |
Greetings!
As a valued supporter of the Women's Cancer Resource Center, I am delighted to offer you this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. But you must get back to me by September 22. Olivia Cruises has generously donated to us two staterooms on its October 4-11 Women's Mexican Caribbean Cruise. Each stateroom accommodates two people. Each trip package is valued at $4,000. The Women's Cancer Resource Center is taking bids, starting at $100 and on September 22 will award these wonderful gift packages to the top two bidders. Just email me at peggy@wcrc.org with your name, bid and contact information. Time is short, so you must act now! What do you get? You'll set sail from San Diego, stroll the quaint cobblestones of Puerto Vallarta, relax on a powdery beach in Mazatlan and visit the hillside villages of the Sierra Madres. If your bid is successful, you will be responsible for your bid, your own travel to San Diego and a $199 per person charge to cover the cost for taxes, fuel surcharge and gratuities for the ship's staff. The trips are non-transferable and women must be 21 years of age or older. To obtain more information check out the Olivia Cruises website here.
Wishing you a dream vacation!

Ayurvedic Supports When Facing Cancer Thurs., Sept. 18, 6:30 - 8:00 PM With Victoria Alara, graduate of Ayurveda Institute of America
Whether we are facing the side-effects from cancer treatments, a new cancer diagnosis, or simply the knowledge of living amongst carcinogenic factors, we all can find support within the wisdom of Ayurvedic knowledge regarding cancer. It turns out that what's good for people with cancer is exactly what's needed for preventing cancers taking root, as long as you know your constitution and the state of balance or disease present. We will cover broadly and suggest reading for greater detail: a wholesome diet, gentle detoxification processes, regular emotional releasing techniques, shoring up mental resilience via meditation and breathwork, and Ayurveda's rejuvenation herbs. We will also briefly review case studies where there has been a consistent reduction of chemotherapy and radiation side-effects from a specific Ayurvedic herbal preparation.

NEVER TOO BUSY FOR BREAKFAST
By Sandy Der
Whether the start of a new school year or end of year reports to compile or writing next year's budget or the start of holiday season, September marks the beginning of a very busy time for many people. No matter how busy it gets, don't skip breakfast - the most important meal of the day. Not just because Mom says so . . . there are numerous scientific studies to back up the wisdom our foremothers passed down to us.
