The Swim a Mile for Women With Cancer Update
Dear Swim A Mile Swimmers,

We have 5 weeks left until the big Swim A Mile for Women with Cancer. We have registered over 309 swimmers - which is great for this time prior to the event.  We expect swim23to host 550 swimmers October 4th and 5th.  Thank you again for swimming to benefit women with cancer and the Women's Cancer Resource Center.

I wanted to be sure that you received a confirmation letter via email or snail mail when you registered either via the website, fax or mail. If you did not get a letter please email me and I will get you one.  It seems that a few swimmers did not get it.

For those swimmers who have registered in the last two weeks, this is your first version of the Swim A Mile Snippets.  The Snippets are event updates, reminders and helpful tips to help you maximize your Swim A Mile experience.  I will be emailing them out each week (hopefully!).

Don't forget!  For those swimmers who raise over $500 in pledges we will be rewarding you with an awesome Swim A Mile Sammy (a small swimmers' towel)!

Please let us know if you will be joining us by emailing swim@wcrc.org. Thank you to those who have already RSVP'ed.

Future Swim Clinics

If you can't make the Swim A Palooza this weekend - then don't fret. We have more swim clinics!

swim22The Mills College Swim Team will be offering two separate swim trainings for Swim A Mile registrants in September to help swimmers reach their goals. The cost is $5 per training. Please RSVP for the trainings by e-mailing: swim@wcrc.org. The swim training sessions will take place on:

Saturday, Sept 13, 8-10am. (8am for beginners, 9am stroke clinic for more experienced swimmers)

Saturday, Sept. 27th , 9-11am (9am for beginners, 10am stroke clinic for more experienced swimmers)

Training sessions will be held at Mills College Pool in Oakland, CA. If you are bringing children and they are not participating in the Swim A Mile or the training sessions, please do not leave them unattended or intend for them to free swim. We do not have enough lifeguards on duty to allow them to swim outside of the training sessions.

Swim A Mile Discussion Board is Up and Running!

To start a discussion about Swim A Mile topics -- fundraising, swimming, training, or even putting a request out there for a swim buddy -- please go to:
https://wsdvps2.wsdsecure.com/~wcrc.org/forum/    Go to the Log In button right next to the words "Welcome Guest." To login you need to enter your email address and your password (the same one you use to look and see who pledged you).   I have put up general information in each topic. Let me know of any questions in using this tool.

Problems with Pledging?

Some swimmers have reported that their donors are having problems donating online.  We swim21apologize for the inconvenience.  If a donor says this to you, please have them try again and copy the error message that they receive and send it to swim@wcrc.org.  We are speedy at solving the problems - so thank you for your patience.

I can be reached at ajvogt@gmail.com or at 510/527-1918 if you have any questions or need more information about anything regarding the Swim A Mile.

Happy Training!
