" 'Tis the Seasonings" at the Museum of Culpeper History

 

Enjoy a festive afternoon at the Museum of Culpeper History! For one ticket price, guests will be treated to an afternoon filled with hands-on activities, including making a large French bow, making ornaments, and making your own recipe booklets. There will also be hourly demonstrations on "How to Decorate on a Shilling", and then an hourly raffle of the items made during each demonstration. Father Christmas will be here to regale you with Christmas traditions, and his elves will hand out candy canes. Enjoy a Colonial High Tea with an assortment of hot mulled wines, hot cider and cool punches. The Burgandine House will be set as a period tavern, with re-enactors demonstrating an assortment of Colonial activities. Enjoy samples of savory stew and hot breads while talking with the tavern wench! 

 

Advanced tickets are $12 for museum members; $15 for general public; $10 for students 6-18; and free for children 0-6, w/parents. Day of event tickets will be $3 more per ticket. South East Street residents are hosting an Historic Tour of homes in Culpeper on Saturday, December 4 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, rain, snow or shine. In celebration of the South East Street neighborhood obtaining National Historical and Virginia Landmark designations, 11 houses will be open for the tour. Various architectural styles will be shown originating from the early 1800's to the beginning of the 20th century. The tour also will include the Museum of Culpeper History and the Burgandine House (reputed to be the oldest dwelling in Culpeper). Tickets: $15 in advance - $20 the day of. Get your tickets for this anticipated fundraiser for the Windmore Foundation for the Arts!  The Depot displays the festively decorated wreaths and trees, donated by talented local artists, individuals and businesses from November 25 - December 4. They are available for purchase through a silent auction during this period, and a final live auction at the Gala Finale on December 4th. You'll enjoy good food and music, and the final bidding on these beautiful wreaths and trees. A glass of sparkling wine or cider - "Sparklers" - could win you a genuine diamond from Petersen Jewelers. Tickets for the Festival Gala are $10 and available at the following locations: Green Nest, Petersen Jewelers, Village Frameworks & Gallery, and the Visitor Center at the Depot.
