NEWS AND INFORMATION FROM LAKES REGION TOURISM ASSOCIATION
NEW Name!! for our regional tourism association. On January 19, 2011 the Lakes Region Association board of directors met and unanimously agreed to amend the association name to the Lakes Region Tourism Association. This name enhancement will help to clarify what our organization does. Incorporated in 1935 the Lakes Region Association has been Welcoming Visitors to the Lakes Region for 75 years.
Over the coming months the association will be looking at our branding and developing a tagline. Please give this some thought and send any suggestions you might have to ksperry@lakesregion.org.
The Lakes Region Tourism Association partners with Discover New England on our International marketing campaigns.
Discover New England was formed to collectively market the six New England states to the international market. Each year DNE hosts the DNE Summit and International Marketplace in one of the New England States. This brings the people responsible (about 80 international tour operators) for putting together New England tours and promotions together with resorts, and organizations like ourselves to help them develop New England tours, and suggested itineraries for individual travels. This year's summit will be held at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel April 4-6. Kim Sperry will be representing the Lakes Region Tourism Association member businesses at this conference.
International FAM Groups tour the Lakes Region - We have also been working with the NH DTTD to coordinate and bring two FAM Tour groups who will be visiting the region April 2 & 3 prior to the Discover new England Summit. We have nine Italian tour operators, 6 German, 3 from the UK, 2 Swiss, 1 Austrian, and a representative from Icelandic Air. This is a fantastic opportunity to show these operators firsthand what we have to offer visitors. A special thanks to the following for offering to host these groups. The Inns at Mill Falls, Giuseppe's Pizzeria & Ristorante, the Kellerhaus, Wright Museum, Wolfeboro Inn, and the Flying Monkey Movie House & Performance Center and the Corner House Inn.
The Lakes Region Tourism Association will be joining Governor John Lynch as a member of the delegation promoting tourism to the Lakes Region with Quebec. The New Hampshire DTTD Canadian Sales Representative Chris Ryan has scheduled appoints for the group to meet with tour operators and product managers with the objective to increase the amount of Lakes Region product available and promoted to the Canadian market through travel agencies and group tour operators. We are looking to establish and reinforce relationships with key industry members and partner together to increase visits and lengths of stay from the Canadian market and to enhance our relationship with the Canadian media and encourage increased exposure for the Lakes Region of New Hampshire.
LAST CHANCE!! We are finalizing the layout for both the Where to Guide and Map & Guide of the Lakes Region. If you are interested in increasing your exposure we need to hear from you by Wed. April 23, 3011. Contact Amy Landers at alanders@lakesregion.org for details. To all of you who have purchased your tickets to the Sweepstakes event we THANK YOU and encourage you to invite your friends and co-workers.
