Amy Landers, Executive Director of the Lakes Region Association Spoke briefly at Tourism Press Conference
 On Monday, August 10th, U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and
Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) discussed the importance of tourism to local economies
at The Inns and Spa at Mill Falls in Meredith. The
Travel Promotion Act, which will establish a national public-private
partnership get more overseas travelers to come to the United States, is
expected to be the first bill taken up by the Senate in September.
Last year, tourism in New
Hampshire supported approximately 67,000 direct full-time and part-time jobs,
and the event will provide an opportunity for local business leaders to
discuss how the tourism industry can be reinvigorated in the current economic
climate. Senator Klobuchar is the chair of the Senate Subcommittee that

For those of you aren't familiar with the Big E, it is very large 17-day annual event that takes place in West Springfield, MA where the NH Div of Travel & Tourism and the Granite State Ambassadors run an information booth in the New Hampshire Building located on the Avenue of the States. During the fair, the New Hampshire building welcomes over 800,000 visitors who are primarily from our immediate driving market, all of whom walk directly through our booth. Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Minimum Wage Poster
Every employer of employees subject to the Fair Labor Standards
Act's minimum wage provisions must post, and keep posted, a notice
explaining the Act in a conspicuous place in all of their
establishments so as to permit employees to readily read it. On July
24, 2009 the Dept of Labor issued a revised version of the FLSA poster.
However, the July 2007 revision
of the minimum wage poster, reflecting the 2007 amendments to the Fair
Labor Standards Act, is still valid and employers may continue to post
