On Monday, August 10th, U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) discussed the importance of tourism to local economies at The Inns and Spa at Mill Falls in Meredith. The Travel Promotion Act, which will establish a national public-private partnership get more overseas travelers to come to the United States, is expected to be the first bill taken up by the Senate in September.
Last year, tourism in New Hampshire supported approximately 67,000 direct full-time and part-time jobs, and the event will provide an opportunity for local business leaders to discuss how the tourism industry can be reinvigorated in the current economic climate. Senator Klobuchar is the chair of the Senate Subcommittee that oversees tourism. READ FULL ARTICLE

Volunteer or have your brochures at the Big E

The Big E 2009 will take place on Sept 18 through Oct 4. For those of you aren't familiar with the Big E, it is very large 17-day annual event that takes place in West Springfield, MA where the NH Div of Travel & Tourism and the Granite State Ambassadors run an information booth in the New Hampshire Building located on the Avenue of the States. During the fair, the New Hampshire building welcomes over 800,000 visitors who are primarily from our immediate driving market, all of whom walk directly through our booth.

We are installing a flat screen digital display panel which will give members the ability to run high definition ads. Because this is digital it is something that we can easily switch out allowing you to promote your businesses seasonally or for special events etc.

Travel Writer Leads

The Lakes Region Association submitted a response to a Travel Writer who's doing an article on the "Best Bartender in New England" for the website, 'Parched No More' www.parchednomore.com. Visitors to the site will be final judges in deciding who is the best. Thank you to the members who responded to our information request!
