State Puts Out Word on Lake Speed Limit

Marine Patrol is putting out the word that speed limits for boats will be in effect this summer.

A new law sets speeds of 45 mph during the day and 25 mph at night on the state's largest lake.

Marine Patrol Sgt. Joshua Dirth said the state is serious about the boating speed crackdown and wants boaters to know speeding on the
water can affect their ability to drive on land. He said boat speeding
convictions also will become part of a boater's driving record.

The Marine Patrol is posting signs about the speed limit at public
docks, launch ramps, marinas, hotels and restaurants.
