TILTON NH - On Friday evening, March 20th, things got Wild on Lake Winnipesaukee at the Wild, Wild West Showdown $10,000 Sweepstakes presented by T-Bones Great American Eatery to benefit the Lakes Region Association, the region's largest tourism marketing organization.
Kevin Peverly may have been the first ticket out of the running for the grand prize but he did "Get the Boot" -- a 2 pound dark chocolate boot from Kellerhaus and a trip to the pokey, escorted by our Sherriff and Deputy from T-Bones.
Winning the $10,000 Grand Prize was Art Bruinooge President of the Sadler Insurance Agency. Sadler Insurance will be donating the proceeds to approved projects through the Community Development Finance Authority's (CDFA) Tax Credit Program. Projects that are approved through the CDFA and selected to receive contributions from Sadler Insurance include the Boys & Girls Club of Manchester; Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua; Families in Transition in Manchester and Harbor Homes in Nashua. Art Bruinooge, his wife Barbara and many Sadler employees volunteer their time to these and other not for profit organizations.
Art has been involved with the Boys and Girls Club of Manchester for more than 25 years serving in the past as a director and currently as a trustee in addition to serving on various fundraising committees. The Sadler Insurance Agency has been involved with Families in Transition for 5 years with Art's wife Barbara currently serving on their Development Committee.
The CDFA offers opportunities for NH businesses to donate to various non-profit organizations while receiving tax credits on their Business Enterprise Tax, Business Profits Tax or the Premium Tax assessed on insurance companies. The approved projects of the CDFA are for community and economic development as well as affordable housing programs and projects that benefit low and moderate income citizens in NH.
"In these economic times, many non-profit organizations are faced with difficult financial challenges just when their services are needed most and are in the greatest demand. When Barbara and I first learned that our ticket won the $10,000 cash prize we knew that we wanted to donate the proceeds, four organizations that asked for our financial support immediately came to mind," stated Art Bruinooge, President of The Sadler Insurance Agency. "Now the challenge was to turn the $10,000 into something more significant. Utilizing tax credits through the CDFA and some matching insurance company contributions we were able to do just that and our goal now is to promote all the CDFA donor opportunities and raise more than $100,000 from the NH business community and insurance companies that do business within the State."
Funds raised at this annual sweepstakes event will allow the Lakes Region Association to enhance their marketing efforts to bring more visitors and their subsequent spending to the area's businesses. In addition, funds will also be used to increasing the association's financial contribution for the Annual Mildred Beach Hospitality Scholarship that is awarded each fall at the Association's Annual Meeting to an area college student. The Lakes Region Association represents over 440 businesses including lodging properties, campgrounds, restaurants, attractions, marinas, golf courses, real estate companies, retail and related shops, and many service entities.
Your participation and support of this and other association fundraising events is instrumental in assisting local businesses and the overall economy in the region through maintaining and boosting the sizeable and indispensable amount of tourism promotion the association provides for its members on an in-state, out-of-state, national and international level.
