AIA|LA 2010 HOME TOURS SPRING SERIES Sunday, April 11, 2010 VENICE, CATO PURCHASE TICKETS, REGISTER HERE
LOS ANGELES, CA - Come discover (or be reminded) why Los Angeles has long been considered one of the country's seminal cities for residential architecture. On Sunday, April 11th, AIA|LA takes visitors to Venice, CA. Once known as the wild child of Los Angeles, Venice has matured over the years into a playground where maverick architects go to test their design mettle. Twenty years ago, Gehry, Rotundi, and Mayne pioneered design in Venice. Today, a new generation of architects takes up the mantle, experimenting with volume, space, and form, to create architecture beyond the box.
Faced with compact sites and other challenges, the architects respond differently, but in each case, the resulting structure is an expression of efficiency and a testament to what happens when architects design 'outside of the box.' Ranging in scale, the tour will take visitors inside one of the most architecturally diverse communities in Los Angeles for a private viewing of some of its prize gems.
We invite you to support the sustainability effort - and save some gas money, too - by biking between homes while enjoying the stunning Venice scenery along the way!

CALL FOR HOMES, for future tours:
Each year, AIA|LA curates a series of Home Tours to celebrate design excellence in residential living. The homes that are selected to be on tour showcase innovative, sustainable features of modern and contemporary designs. As part of that process, we issue an open call for homes to be considered.
If you are an achitect and would like the AIA|LA to consider featuring one of the homes you've designed to be included in a future Home Tour series, then please submit the following to Carlo Caccavale:
- one or two exterior photographs
- two or three interior photographs
- a 300 word or less description of the home
- general area where the home is located
