birdies for CHARITY |
 The Principal Charity Classic presented by Wells Fargo is pleased to announce a new program called Birdies for Charity®.
The Principal Charity Classic was able to donate $575,000 to the "FORE Our Kids" Charities in 2007. In an effort to generate even more support for programs that benefit local children, The Principal Charity Classic is organizing the Birdies for Charity fundraiser to allow participating organizations to collect pledges based on the number of "birdies" made during the 2008 Principal Charity Classic. Each Participating charity will be able to keep 100% of every pledge collected on their behalf. Participating Charities
How does it work?
Donors can pledge either a one-time flat amount, or a per-birdie amount for every birdie made by PGA Champions Tour players during The Principal Charity Classic.
Minimum flat donation - $10
Minimum per-birdie - $.02
Birdies made in 2007 - 752
Total pledge @ $.02 for 752 birdies = $15.04
The number of birdies can fluctuate due to unforeseeable conditions.
A "birdie" is a score of one stroke better than "par" for any golf hole on the course. "Par" is the normal expected score of a golf professional on any given hole. For example, on a par 4 hole, a score of 3 is a birdie.

The Principal Charity Classic has secured a limited number of discounted tickets to Iowa Energy basketball games. Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis. The Energy bring fast-paced, high flying hoops to downtown Des Moines. There are three games remaining; March 27 ($1 beer night), April 5 and April 7. The Principal Charity Classic is proud to present the 2008 Wells Fargo Junior Pro-Am. The goal of the Junior Pro-Am is to give young Iowa golfers an opportunity to meet a professional Champions Tour Player, learn tips of the trade, play golf, and have fun. 36 junior golfers will be selected to play a 9-hole round of golf with Champions Tour professionals. The tournament is open to Iowa golfer's ages 12-18.

How to Enter:
Download the junior pro-am application and fax or mail it to The Principal Charity Classic tournament office by April 28.
