Bromwell Secures Funding in DPS Bond Proposal

At a meeting on August 23, the Denver Board of Education voted in favor of placing a bond and mill levy on the November 2012 ballot to support educational programs, school buildings and technology. Bromwell third grader, Sebastian Orozco, spoke at the meeting.

If the proposal passes, Bromwell is slated to receive $3.75 million to address our Open Plan layout and to improve the school exterior. Addressing the Open Plan would involve building walls and doors (and the associated systems: HVAC, plumbing and electric) for the classrooms that don't have them.

This type of project allows for community input in the planning phase, but in the meantime, we want to thank the people who made it possible: Marcia Toll tirelessly kept things moving forward and on track; Bernard Candelaria spent many hours attending meetings as a member of the committee formed to evaluate DPS needs; David Pfeifer lent his professional expertise as an architect since this process began in 2006; and Jeff Andrews was an excellent negotiator with the Board of Education. The CSC and PTA stepped up to help this summer. Thank you also to Cindy Kraybill and Steve Replogle for their time and perspective.

If you have any questions, please contact Marcia Toll at 303-322-1160 or marciatoll@comcast.net.

Greetings from the School Nurse
Valerie Wintler, Bromwell's school nurse, helps students maintain good health so they can succeed at school. Beyond bandaging boo-boos and taking temperatures, Valerie conducts visual and hearing screenings, administers medications and provides calm guidance in the event of head lice. Please read her welcome letter for more information about health services at Bromwell.

Box Tops for Bromwell
Box Tops for Education

There is an easy way to raise extra money for Bromwell and you may already be doing it: CUTTING BOX TOPS!

Before you throw away (or recycle!) a package take a quick peek to see if it has a Box Tops coupon on it. If so, please clip it and save it for Bromwell. (Make sure you cut on the marks - leaving the date intact.) This could be a great job for your kids.

There will be a contest by class to see who can collect the most box tops by December and again by April 2013.

If you have any questions or would like to help, please contact Cathy Pfeifer at pfeifercd@gmail.com
