Rock Paper Scissors Toy Store

Spring is in the air at Rock Paper Scissors (RPS) and we couldn't be happier! We may be ahead of ourselves but we already have plenty of beach toys in stock for those rare sunny days, that is how optimistic we are! Oh, wait, we already experienced some of those great hot days just last week. Who would have thought we would be selling beach toys in March! 

But rest assured, when you visit us next you will find much more than new beach toys. Although exhausting, our trip to New York in February to the annual Toy Fair was a smashing success. We had so much fun buying some incredible new toys, you really should come in and see for yourself. We keep dreaming that our store expanded over-night so when we get 40 plus boxes of new toys we have someplace to put them! Unfortunately the boxes keep showing up but the store is not getting any bigger!!!  

We'd also like to give a big thanks to Allyne LeFevre, our super toy organizer for an inspiring Parent's Night Out event this month. We had a great turn-out and lots of wonderful ideas were shared! And mark your calendars for the next Parents Night Out event taking place April 26th - Celebrating Play in Nature!

Looking for a unique way to build on your child's social skills abilities? Why not try our Rock Paper Scissors Toy Testers Group? Our next Toy Testers Group starts April 12th and runs for six Thursdays. This special group will be led by Heather Fahey M.Ed, LCSW.  

 

Heather Fahey has spent the past 15 years working in special education and mental health. She holds a M.Ed in special education from the University of Florida and a MSW from Boston University. Her area of concentration is children with social and emotional disabilities. Heather's professional experiences have included public and private school settings, hospitals, and working with families within their homes. She is committed to helping children with social and emotional disabilities, and their families, lead active and fulfilling lives.

 

Each week the group will focus on one basic social skill area, centered on making friends and what it means to be a good friend, using toys and arts and crafts from the store. Some weeks the group will test toys and crafts the store might consider ordering so they can be the first to "provide critical feedback". A snack will be provided as well.
