We have a website!

We are excited as we continue to make strides in raising awareness of our agency's many resources!  We have launched our website, www.mha-aiken.org. I think you'll see clearly that the goal of our website is to inform the community  of MHAAC's mission  and  critical programs we offer. We now  accept donations and Friend of MHA memberships securely on-line.

Your financial contribution, whether through membership, or program specific, demonstrates a partnership with us. We are appreciative of your collaboration in advocating for those diagnosed with a mental illness, in providing shelter to many homeless families through Nurture Home, in preventing both depression & suicide, and in providing services to new parents with our Welcome Baby program.

 Operation Santa Sponsors Needed!

Operation Santa is an annual Christmas celebration held by MHAAC for adults in our community who have a diagnosed mental illness. In addition to a traditional Christmas meal, each participant receives a gift bag at the event (filled w/ essential toiletries, basic clothing & when possible a wish list item). The participants who attend Operation Santa live independently in the community or in local community care homes. They basically live on SSI or SS Disability benefits, so their income levels are very low. Many have no family and few friends, with little hopes to experience the celebration of Christmas without our program.

Every year our community continues to show support and dedication to this event and we are thankful for your generosity. This year we are striving to make Operation Santa a continued success. We need the community's support and donations more than ever before. We anticipate the need for new sponsors to increase due to the economic hardships and job loss that many of our previous sponsors have had to face this year. We are asking if you would please consider sponsoring a participant's gift bag or making a donation to help fill a gift bag.

Registration forms will be sent out to the participants in the next few weeks, and we will be able to start assigning sponsorships by mid-September. If you or your organization is interested in sponsoring one or more participants this year, please contact us at: (803) 641-4164, or you may visit our website for additional information.

Support Group Meeting

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Survivors of Suicide Loss Support Group meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month in Aiken. If you, or someone you know has experienced this loss, I encourage you to attend. The group is facilitated by a peer, trained through AFSP. Keith's empathy and compassion create an environment with no pressure to share; but, openness for those who benefit from sharing. The location for the group has changed and now takes place at our MHAAC office, located at 233 Pendleton St NW, Aiken, SC   The next meeting is Tuesday, September 13th, from 7:00pm - 8:30pm. For additional information you may contact:

We think we can!

Whether its a verse from my Bible or a quote from great leaders such as John F. Kennedy, Nelson Mandela, or John Maxwell, I thrive on little bits of inspiration! Our board president, Liz Neal loves to quote the author of "The Little Engine that Could" because she continues to remind me she thinks we can! A quote currently scribbled on my desk calendar is " All of us are where we are today because of what we've been thinking." I invite you to join us in thinking... We, MHA Aiken County, can!

Grateful for your support!
