High School Winner, Margaret McDonough
Margaret McDonough recently graduated Niskayuna High School where she participated on the soccer, track and speech and debate teams. She is involved in the community volunteering with both St. Helen's Church and Habitat For Humanity. Margaret plans on attending Siena College in the falll where she will major in Biology and minor in Spanish. She would like to thank the Baptist Health System Foundation for their generosity in helping her finance her dream of becoming a doctor.
Returning Education Winner, Megan Parker
Megan Parker graduated from Saint Michael's College in Winooski, VT where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Political Science with two minors in Math and Peace & Justice. During her undergraduate years Megan volunteered on campus with Habitat for Humanity, afterschool programs and extended service trips. Megan was also a Resident Assistant for three years.
After earning her degree Megan joined AmeriCorps exposing herself to diverse populations, non-profit organizations and various social service oriented organizations. Now as a graduate student, her educational experiences, including field placement and graduate assistantship have allowed her to explore new avenues of creating social change and developing social policy. Megan's Graduate Assistantship has sparked her interest in the doctoral program at the University at Albany where her research would focus on foster care and enhancing nutrition assistance programs.
Megan is active and enjoys participating in her softball league and running. She even has plans to run a half marathon in October.
