It's hard to imagine but it was only 10 years ago that our journey started. The dream of turning a 155-year old building into a boutique hotel had been accomplished. We had 28 rooms, a passion to be the best and a team of people who believed that what we were doing was incredibly special.
Ten years later and the dream continues. With the completion of two more renovations, we now offer 67 luxurious rooms and have staked our claim as the best boutique hotel in St. John's. Our team continues to share the dream and the passion that comes with being the representative of such a historic property.
And what is our goal? To share the Murray Premises Hotel experience with you. We invite you to join us in the celebration. Here's to 10 more years.....and 10 more years....
You get the picture!!!

This is such a special occasion that we thought that it was time to introduce you to the man behind it all.
Meet Bill Mahoney
Owner Extraordinaire!
It was the 1990's and a group of local businessmen approached Bill Mahoney with something currently unheard of here in Newfoundland - a boutique hotel. The Murray Premises had been saved from demolition and was now home to a few offices and stores but even then people could see that it was destined for something more. In 2001 the dream was achieved with the opening of 28 rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors. Now the building was in his blood and in 2005, 19 more rooms were added to the 2nd floor. And where are we now? The last 20 rooms were opened in 2010 bringing our grand total to 67 spectacular rooms.
In Mr. Mahoney's own words, "The development of a boutique hotel in the Murray Premises, which is a designated national historic site, is a perfect example of a successful adaptive re-use of a historic building. The architectural characteristics and features of the structure are attractions and enhancements to the common areas and hotel rooms. The thriving operation of the hotel enterprise ensures the longevity of the operation and continued investment and upkeep of the buildings. However, restoration and development of historic properties is not for the faint of heart. It is expensive and laborious, you need to be prepared to invest and be committed to the project."

Congratulations to Michelle Williams!
Winner of our April Contest!
She correctly told us that the HMS Briton was renamed in 1916.
And now for the May Question:
Known traditionally as the 24th of May Weekend, what is the actual
Origin of this Celebration?
