NWS Awarded GSA Contract to Provide Water Conservation Services
| |
National Water Services, Inc. (NWS) has been awarded a General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule 03 FAC contract to provide domestic water audits and perform water conservation plumbing replacement and retrofit services.

This new contract allows governmental agencies to make orders for domestic water audits based on a fixed square foot price, or to issue requests for quotes for more comprehensive technical audit services. Additionally, domestic water conservation plumbing fixture replacement and retrofit work can also be ordered through NWS' GSA contract.
According to Robert Wilson, NWS Executive Vice President, "The GSA award is proof positive of NWS' commitment to offer flexible acquisition solutions for its federal, state and local government customers. We specifically designed our GSA contract to provide government agencies with easier access to comprehensive water conservation services, and we look forward to using the GSA contracting system to help those agencies to save money on water, sewer and energy costs."
For more information regarding NWS' GSA Schedule 03 FAC contract, contact Jason Mayer, Chief Operating Officer, via email at jason@nationalwaterservices.com or by calling 573-356-7355. More information can also be found on the GSA eLibrary website at www.gsaelibrary.gsa.gov and entering NWS' Contract Number: GS-21F-0157X.

Question: My domestic hot water loop re-circulates hot water constantly. I've had to replace the pump several times and now we're starting to develop pin hole leaks in the lines. Is there any way to make this system more efficient?
Answer: Yes there is. A company has introduced a system called D'MAND CIRCŪ that actually reduces energy costs as associated with the hot water distribution system and increases pump life. What they do is replace the traditional recirculation pump with the D'MAND CIRCŪ System, that includes a proprietary demand flow and thermistor (thermostat) control.
A typical hot water recirculation pump delivers hot water from the boiler or storage tank to faucets and fixtures through a distribution loop and back through the tank continuously, 24 hours a day - regardless of whether or not anybody is actually using the hot water. Because the water cools as it passes through the pipes, the boiler has to continually fire up, burning excessive amounts of electricity, oil or natural gas to reheat the same water over and over all day long. This method of hot water distribution for any multi-unit residential or commercial building operating on a central water heating system leads to a significant waste of money, energy, and wear and tear on your pipes and mechanical equipment.
With the D'MAND CIRCŪ system, the boiler will only heat the water that is needed and called for and because of this, D'MAND CIRCŪ pump may run as little as 1 hour per day or less, minimizing heat losses and significantly reducing energy demand in the system. Utility costs are permanently reduced, thus increasing the facilities bottom line and the assessed property value.
In documented case studies, the D'MAND CIRCŪ System shows consistent savings results in the range of 10-30% in most systems. D'MAND CIRCŪ users have found that it also:
- Reduces heat losses in pipes by up to 60%
- Reduces pump operation by up to 99%
- Increases life expectancy, 2-3 times longer than uncontrolled pumps
- Reduces pin-hole leaks and sediment deposits in lines and storage tanks
- Average payback is between 1-2 years
- Industry leading 10 year limited warranty on all parts
D'MAND CIRCŪ provides the same level of hot water service as a pump operating on a constant basis, maintaining and often surpassing tenant satisfaction. Combining the utility savings with the money saved from prevented maintenance and repair - or even damage from pinhole leaks - most building owners can expect to save into $1000s per year.

New Woman-Owned Business Rule to Expand Access to Federal Contracting Opportunities | |
The Small Business Administration recently implemented a new women-owned small business (WOSB) contracting program that will provide WOSB with greater access to federal contracts.
This new program targets 83 industries in which WOSBs are under-represented in the federal contract marketplace. These 83 industries have been singled out by NAICS Codes to help federal contracting officers set aside RFPs and target subcontracting plans to increase contracting opportunities to WOSBs.
National Water Services, Inc. (NWS) has been certified for the new WOSB program and is now registered in all plumbing, irrigation and domestic water related NIACS Codes. Now all work performed by NWS on federal projects will fall under the statutory goals of this program and can help prime contractors when competing for federal contracts.
In addition to the federal WOSB designation, NWS is also certified as a Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) by the WBE National Council, the company's home state of California, and numerous states throughout the country.
Additionally, the California Department of General Services certifies NWS as a small business. With this certification, NWS will receive a five percent bid preference on most California state, county and municipal bids. Additionally, non-small business prime contractors who use California certified small businesses could also be eligible for a bid preference of five percent.
In many cases, NWS' small business certifications can be coupled with the company's national and state WBE certifications to make NWS a formidable subcontracting partner when bidding on federal, state, county and municipal projects.
Any organizations looking for a certified WOSB to partner with on energy performance contracts or to perform water conservation services can contact Jason Mayer, Chief Operating Officer, via email at jason@nationalwaterservices.com or by calling 573-356-7355.
