Recommended Supplements to enhance weight loss

a. Carb Check - Lowers blood sugar by blocking the breakdown of carbs into sugar

b. Met - Assist - Carcinia Cambogia - Reduces insulin & sugar levels, and suppresses the appetite. This is our natural "diet pill".

c. Fiber Plex - fiber fills you up, and slows the speed food turns into sugar in the body, helping you lose weight. Fiber also helps lower cholesterol levels by sweeping fats from your blood.

d. High Dose OMEGA 3's (fish oil) - Everyone should be taking omega 3's. Omega 3's are anti-inflammatories. Belly fat unfortunately is not an inactive pouch of fat around our stomachs. It's an active inflammatory organ that secretes hormones associated with weight gain, and other health consequences. Omega 3's are used by weight loss doctors to reduce inflammation. Our Omega 3's are interic coated, no fishy burps.

e. 5HTP - 5HTP is famous for its stress relieving properties. 5 hydroxy-Triptophan is a natural product that helps the brains secrete the neurotransmitter serotonin which makes us feel good. One of the reasons we like high carb "comfort foods", is because carbs make the brain produces serotonin which makes us feel good. Weight loss doctors use 5HTP to reduce carb cravings.

Greetings!

Our goal with the newsletter is to help you "find your grove" within the structure of the dietary system. We want you to find items you enjoy that will work for you. Here are couple of items that I enjoy. I found these at Publix for about $5.00. The items are low carb (by definition) and cater to those who lack the time to prepare.

Orange BeefSeasame Chicken

Both of items are about 22 grams protein and 14 carbs per serving.

HOW TO TELL A BAD CARB

 doughnuts

OK....... Its obvious that these doughnuts are bad carbs but sometimes figuring out if something is a bad carb can be challenging. Many of you have asked how do I know a bad carb when I see one (READ LABELS)? Some have told me it takes too long to grocery shop. Let me give you a two question check list to determine if something is bad carb. If the answers is yes to either questions its a bad carb

HOW TO TELL A BAD CARB CHECK LIST

  1. Is this food sugary or (sweet like candy or a beverage)
  2. Is this product made from flour

When I'm in the grocery store I can quickly determine if something is a bad carb on sight by asking myself these questions. So lets practice this. Look at the house Tsang Products.

Is it sweet? : No, It is not sweet (like candy)

Is there anything made from flour? : No - nothing from flour, like bread, noodles, rice.

Hopefully this helps and always, always, always read your food labels because there will be products like the one below that have just a little bit potatoes or like the orange beef above that is slightly sweet.

This D-light (low fat ) Jimmy Dean Breakfast Bowl has 23 grams of proteins and 19 Carbs.

LACK OF SLEEP CAN LEAD TO OBESITY

Get  your sleep

Over the past several decades, the prevalence of obesity has grown to epidemic proportions. At the same time, the rise in weight has been a similar epidemic of sleep deprivation. According to annual surveys done by the National Sleep Foundation, by 1998 only 35% of American adults were getting 8 hours of sleep per night, and that number fell to 26% by 2005.

A review of literature performed by the National Institutes of Health suggests that short sleep duration is strongly and consistently associated with concurrent and future obesity in children and adults. A number of reasons have been proposed, including the idea that chronic sleep deprivation can cause feelings of fatigue which may lead to reduced physical activity. Perhaps more importantly, however, sleep deprivation may have metabolic and hormonal effects that increase caloric intake by affecting leptin, ghrelin, cortisol and insulin (weight related hormones) secretion.

Leptin plays a key role in regulating energy intake and energy expenditure by inhibiting appetite and increasing satiety. The absence of leptin leads to uncontrolled food intake and resulting obesity. Conversely, ghrelin is a hormone that stimulates hunger. Ghrelin levels increase before meals and decrease after meals. It is considered the counterpart of leptin.

Laboratory studies have shown that sleep deprivation may increase the risk of weight gain and obesity by upregulating appetite via a decrease in leptin, and an increase in ghrelin.

It is well known that alterations in cortisol levels associated with sleep deprivation can lead to an increase in food cravings, particularly sugar and salt. Additionally, studies have shown that sleep deprivation leads to reduced insulin sensitivity, which can result in a prediabetic state and an increased risk for weight gain and obesity.
