Art News!!! | |
You may have noticed the brand new art cabinet in the lobby by the counseling suite. It's huge! We even took a picture of it so you can see. Miss Cunningham was so excited as she filled the cabinet with wonderful examples of BES student art!
Tapestry is Gwinnett County's fantastic art show held every spring to feature the talents of students in K-12 from all over the county. This year 41 students from Brookwood Elementary had their work chosen to represent our school for this event. What an accomplishment! The show is up through Sunday March 25 at the ISC in Suwanee. Make sure to check it out!

Important Cafeteria News! |
The cafeteria staff of Brookwood Elementary would like to say how much we have enjoyed serving your children this year. Parents will be unable to eat with their students after April 20 due to testing and other school activities. Friday, May 7th will be the last day students will be permitted to charge a breakfast or lunch. All charges should be paid by this date so that the cafeteria staff has time to collect outstanding money and balance accounts. "Money shortages" often occur when students purchase extra items on an a la carte basis. Please take this into consideration as you plan for breakfast and/or lunch money. If your child purchases breakfast and/or lunch regularly, be proactive and put $1.00 for breakfast and/or $1.75 for lunch in your child's book bag in case breakfast and/or lunch money is forgotten, lost, or used for extra items. Work with us and plan ahead to avoid any confusion about breakfast and/or lunch money. Please know that if your child does not have money for breakfast and/or lunch, he/she will not be able to make a breakfast/lunch choice for that day. Instead, he/she will be given a piece of fruit and milk for breakfast and/or peanut butter sandwich (or alternative for peanut allergy) and milk for lunch. We will not let your child "starve!'' However, please note that his/her account will still be charged for their meal. We want the last days of school to be as free of stress for parents and students as possible.
Please call the school cafeteria at 770-736-4360 or 770-436-4363 if you have any questions.
Have a "Nutritious" spring & summer! |

2012 Brookwood Cluster
Witzzle Pro Tournament | |
Thirty eight, fourth and fifth grade students from Brookwood Elementary competed in the 3rd Annual Brookwood Cluster Witzzle Pro Tournament at Gwin Oaks Elementary. They joined students from Gwin Oaks, Craig and R.D. Head to use their fast thinking and quick writing skills to earn points for math solutions. After six 6-minute rounds of play, the highest scoring student in each grade from each school would be awarded the opportunity to represent their school at the County Witzzle Pro Tournament on May 5 at Stripling ES. The student for the highest overall score received a trophy as the winner for that grade level representing the Brookwood Cluster! We are so proud of all of our students for the hard work over these past months. The winners for Fifth Grade: Amanda Cover won 1st Place. Jett Qiu won 2nd Place. The winners for Fourth Grade: Megan Huang won 1st Place. Neil Patram won 2nd place. Megan Huang was the Cluster Fourth Grade winner with 82 points.

This is an online software program (www.educationcity.com) that targets Georgia learning standards in the areas of Math, Language Arts, and Science. Students work on creative activities that teach them needed academic strands at the same time. The children love this software! Home licenses usually cost around $75 for a year but through Brookwood Elementary you can purchase a home license for $10 for one child plus $5 for each additional child in the same family.
