5th Grade Writing Assessment | |
Parents,
Just a reminder that the 5th grade students will participate in the Georgia Grade 5 Writing Assessment on Wednesday, March 7th. This is a promotion requirement for 5th grade students. This assessment will be given in two sessions. One session will be from 9-10:30 am and the other session will be from 1:15-2:45 pm. Please have your student eat a healthy breakfast and arrive at school on time. No lunch guests on this day due to testing. |

If you join our team, you are welcome to come out to the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds on May 4th to show your support for Brookwood Elementary's Relay team (students need to be accompanied by an adult). Thank you for all of your support already! Remember - Tuesdays are our Relay for Life day so wear your shirt if you have one!

World Math Event 2012
|
The challenge will begin in Georgia on March 6 at 5:00 AM (EST)and will continue for 48 hours. All of the points that students have accumulated in the practice sessions will disappear on March 6, 2012. Children around the ENTIRE WORLD will log on to World Maths Day to set a new world record for the most math questions answered! Some children will set their alarm clocks to ring at 4:45 am in the morning just to log on right at the start of the World Maths Day Challenge. Let the games begin!! Brookwood Elementary is excited to be a part of this event!

 Mark your calendars: Celebrity basketball game & clinic between the Harlem Legends (former Harlem Globetrotters and other professional athletes) and the Amanda Riley All-Stars! March 10th at 3:00 - Brookwood High school in the Maroon Gym. -
Tickets for the event will be $10.00 ($15.00 at the door). The Legends will also be holding a youth clinic the same day starting at 1:00 - 2:30 for children ages 6-14 for $25.00, which also includes a ticket to the game. AND...our very own Cameron Franklin (Amanda's 3rd grade teacher) is going to play on the Amanda Riley All Star team! Look for more details to follow. Thank you for all you do and have done to support this foundation and bring smiles to children who are fighting cancer! YOU are making a difference!

 This is an online software program (www.educationcity.com) that targets Georgia learning standards in the areas of Math, Language Arts, and Science. Students work on creative activities that teach them needed academic strands at the same time. The children love this software! Home licenses usually cost around $75 for a year but through Brookwood Elementary you can purchase a home license for $10 for one child plus $5 for each additional child in the same family.
