Welcome to the first issue of Reputation Matters - our quarterly e-newsletter designed to share practical communications ideas and insights to help your organization.  Indeed, reputation matters more than ever.  The Reputation Institute's 2010 survey found that having a stronger reputation yields better business results:  consumers are more likely to recommend, support or purchase products from highly regarded companies.  Of course, your company's reputation is also defined by industry influencers, your employees and community leaders - anyone who touches your brand.  We're proud to be in the important business of helping clients build and defend strong, engaging brands and reputations among all their key audiences.  (In fact, in 2011, we're celebrating the 15th anniversary of building our own firm's reputation!)  We encourage you to forward this e-newsletter to others, tell us what you think in our "Speak Your Mind" question or connect with me directly at slinhart@linhartpr.com.

3 IDEAS THAT COULD HELP YOUR ORGANIZATION
1

7 ways to improve employee engagement.  What can you do to help your employees be more engaged, productive and satisfied with their jobs?  Researchers identified seven ways leaders can help their employees find meaning at work - and thus give their organizations a competitive edge.  The bottom line:  It's taking time to match employee strengths with workplace experiences; build positive relationships; and celebrate the little things that matter.

2

Read between the numbers to measure social media success.  The reality is, all social media efforts - be it a new blog or Facebook campaign - will start small. But even small numbers can help you identify trends and gain traction. When analyzing social media metrics, ask yourself four questions:  1) What are the numbers telling you; 2) What are you trying to prove; 3) What should you be doing differently; and 4) Who needs to know?

3
Don't substitute Facebook for face time. Despite our online, on-the-go world, research shows the best relationships are still built through face-to-face interactions.  Pursue honest, personal contact with others - whether it's taking a co-worker to lunch, calling a customer to ask her opinion about a new service, or walking by your employees' desks to say good morning.

INSIGHTS AND OUTCOMES

Gluten-Free Bread Launch:   Going Direct to Target Consumers Via Social Media Influencers

Rudi's Gluten-Free BreadBoulder-based Rudi's Organic Bakery is making life brighter for everyone who suffers from celiac disease or gluten intolerances by giving them another way to enjoy bread again with its new line, Rudi's Gluten-Free Bakery.  Rudi's turned to Linhart PR to help entice trial and awareness in Colorado of its gluten-free bread, a nutritious, natural and tasty alternative for the one in 133 Americans with celiac disease. Among the key influencers to reach the target consumers:  hundreds of gluten-free bloggers, Tweeters and Facebookers.

As part of its overall product launch campaign, Linhart PR invited gluten-freeRoot Down Gluten-Free Event bloggers, along with traditional media, to an exclusive event at Root Down, a Denver restaurant that caters to customers with food allergies. The dinner featured a completely gluten-free menu with two courses incorporating Rudi's Gluten-Free breads, giving third-party influencers a chance to personally experience the product and brand. The result:  Positive blog posts from every attendee, including one key blogger who went from a skeptic to advocate; and ongoing gluten-free recipes from the restaurant's chef to share with consumers and bloggers, all which helped generate market share growth in Colorado, as well as build awareness and demand nationwide.  We helped Rudi's reach a highly targeted audience by combining our know-how in natural foods, media relations and digital media.
