Rock the Cause Artist Feature: Dessa
Twin Cities Hip Hop Royalty Takes Action to Help Girls Around the World Access Education
When artists stand up for a cause they believe in, Rock the Cause counts that as a win - we love seeing musicians use their unique position in the local and national spotlight for good. Artists advocating for the work of nonprofit organizations is just one way that we believe rock and roll can change the world. Local hip-hop artist, writer, speaker, Doomtree member, and established but rising star Dessa is no exception to this concept. Rock the Cause turned 5 this summer. We are seeing our vision of becoming one the nations most innovative and respected music non-profits become a reality.
For "5 Loud Years" Rock the Cause a 501(c) 3 organization has been making an impact in our community by educating, empowering and inspiring others to make a difference. Our initiatives are not just one-off events. Our work is based in ongoing engagement that combines concerts, new media, digital music downloads, volunteer and funding drives for our partner causes. We can also be found in high schools and colleges across our region working one on one with students to create a future generation of community-minded citizens. Through out our 5th year we will be hosting multiple concert events, music releases, volunteer drives, and doing what we do best - engaging people to get in involved in their community. 5 Year logo design by Priscilla Priebe.
