Rock the Cause and "Hip Hop High" Tornado Relief Concert! July 9, 2011 2PM to 7PM Rock The Cause, in a partnership effort with the MN High School of Recording Arts, will host a North Minneapolis tornado relief fundraiser for those affected by the storms.
Several students and a faculty member were personally affected by the May 22, 2011 storm. The event will be hosted by the school on Saturday, July 9th, 2011, with all proceeds benefiting the North Minneapolis Tornado Recovery Fund.
The event welcomes all ages, and will feature the school's student Gospel and Urban Music Groups alongside some of the best local hip-hop artists in the Twin Cities, including Kristoff Krane and Toki Wright. A freestyle contest will also allow aspiring poets and artists to showcase their spoken word talents. Created, organized and planned by HSRA students, this event is a shining example of how Rock the Cause works with young people to inspire and engage the community. "We want people to remember that recovery is long term. In six months the north side will still need people to help out. We can not forget!" said HSRA student Tony Fulford a.k.a. "MC Misfit" who contacted Rock the Cause to assist the students in planning the event. Admission is a suggested $3 donation, and all ages are welcome.
Down Load "Another Day" written and recorded by HSRA's Urban Music Group! Proceeds benefit Tornado Relief Efforts.

24th Annual Minnesota AIDS Walk Results!
A day dedicated to supporting the thousands of Minnesotans living with HIV/AIDS, this year's MN Aids Walk was nothing short of inspiring. Even in its 24th run, over 5,000 people showed up at Minnehaha Park last May to raise money for the cause. The fundraising total from this year's walkers, runners and volunteers was just short of the $500,000 goal - Thank you! Funds from the event are used for prevention, support and policy programs within the Twin Cities.
Of the many unique stories from event-goers, one that particularly stood out was that of the HSRA (Minnesota High School for Recording Arts) students who showed up to give their support. RTC has been working to develop a relationship with the school, and their presence at the event is the exact spirit of volunteerism and community that we aim to spread.

RTC was honored to host live music at the band shell, along with event sponsors and the supportive crew from the MN AIDS Project. Music included Not Like This, Alison Scott, Far From Falling and The Alarmists! Our stage was hosted by the lovely and talented duo Miss Minnesota USA Brittany Lee Theleman and Mo Donohue as Cher!
RTC was also able to debut a new system for charitable donations, via text messaging, which helped us to raise additional funds for the event, and will be an option at all future RTC events!
FYI: The current state shut down and budget cuts have forced Minnesota AIDS Project to lay off staff and cut front line resources to prevent the spread of HIV.
Please visit http://www.mnaidsproject.org/ to find out how you can help! Or text PREVENT to 50555 to make a $10 donation!

Rock the Vine 2: A Stone Soul Picnic!

The second annual Rock the Vine music festival was beyond successful - better weather could not have been chosen, and the crowd could not have been more fantastic!
Guests began arriving even before we were open and the vineyard stayed busy throughout a perfectly sunny afternoon. The event was hosted once again by the gracious staff and gorgeous landscape of St. Croix Vineyards as guests enjoyed food, wine samples and music to raise money and support for Youth Advantage. A noted change to this year's event, performers from YA shared some of their talents with the audience, demonstrating the power of the arts and extracurricular activities for children. Youth Advantage provides musical and athletic equipment and services for such activities to financially challenged families. Through this event, we were able to raise over $10,500 with the net proceeds benefiting Youth Advantage!
The afternoon was accompanied by The Fattenin' Frogs, Pictures of Then, Devine Collection, and Roster McCabe on the main stage. Guests were also able to enjoy Cadillac Kolstad and Niki and The Ruemates on the side stage, along with a variety of refreshments and samples from the vineyard.
We were thrilled to see so many families and groups of friends out at the vineyard to support the local arts, and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year!

Little Man Measures Up!
Rock the Cause CEO, Scott Herold, takes us inside the mind and aesthetic of Chris Perricelli, perhaps more familiar and better known to music lovers as Little Man. Herold draws some striking comparisons between the mind set and music of Little Man and a distant era in music when rock & roll was simple, and said what it had to say!
