Just Who Does

Rock the Cause

Think They Are ???

Rock The Cause Campus is the college version of the award-winning Twin-Cities based Rock The Cause, a 501c3-certified not-for-profit organization that works to create a positive, life-changing experience through the power of music and community.

Both RTC and RTC Campus partner with local and national nonprofits who make an immediate and measurable impact on the community, and aim to serve as a resource of awareness for young people to help discover the opportunities available to them to make an impact on the causes that matter to them.

We are a grass roots effort to build a new generation of volunteerism and philanthropy. We partner with young, emerging recording artists and volunteers to make the world a brighter place.

The RTC Campus program was designed by college students for college students. Our team is comprised of post-grad volunteers and nonprofit professionals. Some of us once held Campus Activity Board positions - just like you! Our team works with your student committee to create a concert event that will help students learn about volunteer opportunities while raising awareness for your student body's choice cause!

Bring ROCK THE CAUSE to your campus!

We know you care about a lot of things, but maybe you  don't realize how easy it is to make a difference in your community. The Rock the Cause Campus program takes your hot-blooded passion and helps you fuse it into an exciting event that empowers students to contribute to the community in a meaningful way, without stepping foot off campus!

Make Your Voice Heard and Your Money Count

Most colleges and universities spend thousands of dollars on campus entertainment that is largely overpriced, not to mention forgettable. RTC Campus helps you put your campus activity dollars toward an event that will educate your students about an important issue, inspire action, and spark change in your community.  Learn more!

White Light Riot

Market Place 1 Grand Opening 7PM to 8PM

WLR NEWWhite Light Riot is one of the most exciting independent bands today. These lads create music that is viscious, visceral, and angelic all at once.

As one of the very first bands to answer the call to join Rock the Cause, we have grown up together.  Their advice and knowledge on all things Rock and Roll is a great asset to RTC. Their soon-to-be released second record will go down as one of the best written rock and roll albums to come out of the Twin Cities in over a decade.  You need to see these guys live and experience the charisma, and animal magnetism that Rock and Roll is about!

Market Place 2 10:20 to 11:30 PM

Pictures of Then

Pictures of Then have been rocking non-stop in 2011.  From Rock for Socks, a sock drive for The Family Partnership that packed Cause Spirits and Soundbar in Uptown, to their securing one of three finalist spots in Vita.mn's "Are You Local?" contest, they've secured their spot to rock at this year's SXSW.

With both nostalgic and familiarly current rock sensibilities, they are no newbies to the scene.  They have toured nationally, making the rounds to notable festivals and snagging awards like Billboard Magazine's 2010 Battle Royale Competition.  Musicians with heart for their craft and their community, Pictures of Then have proved themselves to be more than worthy of their recent accolades.

The 4onthefloor
Market Place 2 10:20 to 11:30 PM

4ontheFloorThe 4onthefloor deliver stompin' blues at an alarming intensity. 4onthefloor was born in the bottom of a bourbon bottle with the idea that it's time to have some fun and make amazing music as well. Audiences immediately took to the infectious, driving feel of not one, but four bass drums pulsing to the beat of the songs. The music is inspired by the gutsy stomp of the Delta Blues and the hoe-downs from America's past and present.

While 4onthefloor prides themselves on their original songs, they also love putting their signature stomp on covers from the likes of Wilco to Tom Jones. This makes 4onthefloor one of the most entertaining bands on the Midwest music scene today, and the world tomorrow.

Alison Scott
Market Place 3 1:50 PM to 3:05 PM

Ali Scott PortraitAlison Scott is the strongest new voice to come out of the Minneapolis music scene in many years. Her soulful, organic sound completely ignores the rules of cool that define so much of today's music. Working with platinum and Grammy-winning guitarist/producer Kevin Bowe (Paul Westerberg, Etta James, Jonny Lang), drummer Peter Anderson (Polara, Honeydogs), and bassist Steve Price (Rex Daisy), the band has been performing sold out shows at Mpls venues like the Dakota, Fine Line, and Varsity Theater along with several exclusive benefits and corporate functions. Her new CD was listed as one of the year's top 10 by the St. Paul Pioneer Press.  Alison has been an important part of RTC's success, attending events with us as a featured artist, and helping to further RTC's mission.

The Melismatics
Market Place 4 9:45 PM - 11:00 PM

The MelismaticsThe Melismatics formed at the turn of the century in the fertile ground of the Minneapolis indie-rock scene. Their debut album, "Postmodern Rock," quickly caught the attention of college radio stations around the country and garnered favorable reviews from critics around the world. The Melismatics have found a sound all their own that is familiar yet unique, euphoric and adventurous. As students of rock history, they have taken the best elements of the past and mixed them with their own modern vision. They fuse such influences as New Order, The Jesus And Mary Chain, The Kinks, Big Star, David Bowie, The Cars, and many others.

Not Like This

Market Place 5 4:35 PM to 5:35 PM

NLTNot Like This is more than just a power trio, "It's an idea," quips lead singer and bassist, Matt Mackey. "It's about passion and making your own path."

As former members of Holiday, the boys in Not Like This are already college concert superstars.
Not Like This gravitates towards Rock and Roll's formative years, but keeps a pulse on modern music. All this, while still managing to carve something distinctly their own into everything they do.

Playing everything from their own driving power pop to Muse, Foo Fighters and Van Halen, this band makes any event... no, every event... a knock down, drag out rock and roll party!

Maudlin

Market Place 6 9:50 PM to 11:50 PM

MaudlinMaudlin is like your 5th or 6th favorite band. If you are a fan of The Pixies,
Pedro The Lion, The Breeders, Weezer, The Dolly Rots, or any other loud, crunchy, obnoxious, nerdophile band, then book Maudlin. They may even visit your dorm room and keep you up all night with tales of UFOs, zombies, secret societies, and the Illuminati - all illustrated through hand puppetry.

What we really love about Maudlin is its secret weapons. Surf music drumming, guttering bass lines, and the sonic, deep down rock & roll crazies of "girl next door" guitarist, Priscilla Priebe. Yeah, this is the band you will look back upon your college years and say, "What a weird party!"
