Rock the Cause Joins National Association of Campus Activities!
Rock the Cause is excited to announce that we have joined NACA (National Association of Campus Activities)! Our membership will allow us to build direct relationships with Student Life and Learning Services contacts at colleges across the Great Plains region!
Colleges are discovering a need for innovative concert programming that also engages the student body to become more active in their communities. Rock the Cause Campus was designed BY college students FOR college students! This exciting program empowers students to contribute to their community while having fun in a concert environment -- and learn valuable skills along the way!
The Rock the Cause Campus team is comprised of student volunteers and non-profit professionals working side-by-side to create a concert event, which will help students to learn about volunteer opportunities, while supporting their favorite causes! At a recent Rock the Cause campus event, over 300 students enrolled as volunteers for 14 different regional nonprofit organizations!
Rock the Cause provides to NACA member organizations: - National and emerging artists
- Targeted student marketing
- Supervision of student volunteers
- Guidance in choosing a charity
- Approved volunteer hours or internship program
- Themed concert events (Glam Rock Night or 80's Rock Night etc.)
In fact, a Rock the Cause Campus Event can be produced for much less then what you currently pay for most national touring artists and your students come away with more than a T-Shirt. For more information on how to bring Rock the Cause to your campus, or to set up a time to meet with you and your student entertainment committees, please contact Ali Goldberg at: ali@irockthecause.org or rockstar@irockthecause.org
Rock the Cause is a member of National Association of Campus Activities.
"I want to thank Rock the Cause for your awesome energy." You just rocked it when working with our students!"
- Sarah Williamson, Intern Coordinator for McNally Smith School of Music.

Featured Cause: Big Brothers Big Sisters
For 90 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities has been enriching the lives of young people through professionally supported, one-to-one friendships.
As a School-based Big, you will meet with a child (your Little) right at his or her school for just one hour a week -- you can even decide the time of day to visit. The two of you might eat lunch together, head out to the playground, or find a good read in the library. Everything takes place at the school, so you don't have to worry about transporting your Little anywhere. Our School-based sites are easily accessible by Metro Transit. Currently, 680 Littles in the Twin Cities are waiting to be matched in our programs. To learn more about volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters, find us online at www.bigstwincities.org or on Facebook and Twitter.
"Rock the Cause is a phenomenal organization. The RTC team has an amazing passion for helping local non-profits and have already helped our agency by recruiting a number of male mentors, which is one of our biggest needs. We are tremendously appreciative for everything that Rock the Cause is doing to build stronger communities, one child at a time"
- Nadia Siddiqui, Development Director Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Greater Twin Cities

Phantasmagoria: "Children of Night.... what wonderful Philanthropists they make!"
Our Halloween extravaganza, Phantasmagoria, was a spooky success! Phantasmagoria had all of the seasonal celebration essentials: delicious elixirs courtesy of Summit Brewing Co. and Saint Croix Vineyards, fun, energetic sets by ReadyGoes, and a wonderfully costumed crowd full of enthusiasm for our cause as well as the Halloween spirit!
The dance floor was packed as everyone let loose to the rocking sounds of ReadyGoes while Cadillac Kolstad provided some good old boogie woogie piano upstairs in Scott Weber's amazing 35-room themed mansion! Guests had plenty to explore in the decorated party house, making it a truly unique Halloween celebration.
Attendees got a chance to sit in Jeannie's Genie-bottle room, hang out in the Jazz lounge, enjoy snacks in the Bourbon street/waterfall "outdoor" bistro, and even step into an episode of the Twilight Zone!
Our wonderful guests included everyone from Wolverine to Wonder Woman and Medusa to Moses.Rock the Cause is grateful to have so many people that believe in what we do and are happy to report that we raised over $5,000, which will go towards expanding our college campus initiatives and presence!
Thank you Rock the Cause supporters and sponsors: Summit Brewing, Saint Croix Vineyards, Minnesota Monthly, and of course our dedicated and hard-working volunteers! We couldn't have had this successful event without you! We had a blast and can't wait to start planning our next big party, Glitter Ball 4. Hope to see you all there!

Artist Profile and Free Music Download: The Arms Akimbo
The Arms Akimbo have an excellent follow up to last Autumn's EP "You Want To." The new album is simply self titled The Arms Akimbo. Eric Lovold (The Alarmists) recorded and engineered the record.
The real magic behind The Arms Akimbo is that they could easily fit in with any vinyl by Rock Pile, Nick Lowe, The Payolas, The Darts or even Blondie that you might have in your collection.
The Arms Akimbo are a time capsule of the late 70's New York and London "Mod" and "Punk" scenes. Their song writing is punchy, snotty and house-party danceable.
The Arms Akimbo are hosting a CD release party November 26, 2011 at Cause Sound Bar in uptown.

Rock the Cause Volunteer Superstars! Meet Catherine Schaefer
"I started volunteering for Rock the Cause at Grand Old Days in June of 2010,and it's ALWAYS a great time! I'm fairly new to the area, so RTC has been a great way to meet people who share my interest in giving back to the community and who also lo ve to listen to awesome music. "Furthermore, I've become aware of the array of opportunities for volunteering in my area because RTC supports such a variety of important causes. I feel like I'm helping more of the community than I would if I only worked with one organization, and I get to connect with a much more diverse group of inspired and dedicated people. I'm also on a fairly tight budget, so getting to see such great shows for the price of a few volunteer hours' is a real bonus. Cool bands, great friends, and knowing I'm helping out the community too?"
Sign me up! ~ Catherine Schaefer (RTC- volunteer, supporter, and friend).
