Say It Loud I ROCK THE CAUSE! |

Dear Rock the Cause Community,
Rock the Cause is 100% supported by private donations. Our operating budget is very modest at less than $20,000 per year.
As you can see in this newsletter we make a tremendous impact in our community. We don't have to worry about chasing a $50 Million dollar a year budget. Instead we get to focus on our mission.
Our organization is growing. Every dollar we spend goes to delivering amazing programming that showcases great causes and emerging artists.
Over the course of the year we incur costs like insurance, part time staff, production, and marketing.
Rock the Cause is an organization dedicated to empowering people in a way that todays generation finds engaging!
Please support us by making a tax deductible contribution to Rock the Cause.

We are built by love, and fueled by Rock and Roll.
Thank you for your support!

Rock the Cause Campus and St Olaf College MEC present "After School Special" costume charity ball
Rock the Cause, St. Olaf College, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota have formed a League of Super Heroes to promote safe play and one-to-one mentoring for children. Also joining the ensemble is Eric Howell, whose film Ana's Playground, has generated Oscar-worthy buzz for its stunning portrayal for children living and playing in war-ravaged communities.
The After School Special Costumed Charity Ball will feature music from classic children's programs and other activities that emphasize the value of having a safe and positive childhood. There will be on-campus screenings of the award-winning Indie film, Ana's Playground, on Friday and Sunday, and a preview of the film during Saturday's event. Musical performances will include outlaw country national headliner, 32 Below (our featured band below) and Minneapolis-based Indie superstars, White Light Riot.
"Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota is very excited to partner with the students at St. Olaf College. Rock the Cause will bring awareness to the powerful impact of one-to-mentoring. We look forward to showing St. Olaf students how they can help change how children grow up in their community." Glitter Ball results are in!
We want to thank everyone who made Glitter Ball 3 our most successful Glitter Ball to date! We encourage the Rock the Cause Community to continue to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities, by donating time and resources to impact the life of a child.
Over 400 people attended our sold out event at the Music Box Theatre. Our marketing campaign reached an estimated 80,000 people in the Twin Cities region, which gave Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) a significant surge in their Facebook and Twitter accounts. This also led to a record number of people signing and attending mentor orientations.
We were proud to support the the incredible artists who performed at Glitter Ball 3. They helped us fulfill our mission to create a new generation
of stewardship for BBBS. After all expenses were
paid, we delivered $4,520 to Big Brothers Big Sisters. (That is 25% of the Rock the Cause Annual Operating Budget!) We challenge any organization to deliver at the level we deliver with the minimal budget we have to work with.
Rock the Cause is very blessed to have the support of the volunteers,
artists, corporations, the media and the fans. Thank you all for your support, hard work and great karma. Please help us to
continue our good work by supporting our bands, events and sponsors.

Ana's Playground
Rock the Cause is hosting the first North American campus screening of the award winning Film Ana's Playground.
We are honored to be working with filmmaker, Eric Howell, to create a model to bring awareness of this amazing film to college campuses across the USA.
Ana's Playground is an allegory about the moment a child must choose between ideology and humanity while living and playing in a dangerous war environment. Production of the short film was made possible by charitable contributions through Independent Feature Project Minnesota. The filmmakers are offering the film as a publicity and fundraising tool for non-governmental agencies who work to improve the lives of children.
Screenings at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN:
Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 PM: Viking Theater, Buntrock Commons
Sunday, Feb. 28 at 8 PM: Viking Theater, Buntrock Commons
Admission is free and open to the public. Donations for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota are welcome and encouraged.

Featured Band: 32 Below
Rock the Cause has roots in Outlaw Country music. Many of our staff and volunteers grew up listening to the likes of Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. We are pleased to announce that 32 Below will be performing at our next Rock the Cause Campus event, After School Special, at St Olaf College on Saturday, February 27. It's been nearly 8 years since country-rockers 32 Below released their debut album. Now, 4 albums later and over 20,000 CD's sold, 32 Below is currently writing their fifth album in their studio in West Fargo, North Dakota. In early 2009, 32 Below landed a guitar string endorsement from GHS strings. With multiple songs in rotation on radio stations in major markets across the U.S., as well as playing 150-200 shows a year, 32 Below is turning heads the way they always have: one at a time. 32 Below will open this years We Fest Country Music Festival on August 5-7, near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota!

The Last Word: Thanks to everyone who responded to our recent survey. Our scientists are still analyzing the data, but here are a few comments and kudos we received from our fabulous patrons: "I love live music and supporting good causes, so this way I can enjoy both at the same time."
"It's a great cause, they put together great shows and they are truly committed to preserving and enhancing the Twin Cities music scene."
"Because they combine fun with education and they expose me to groups and bands I wouldn't normally be exposed to."
"Love to see the organization grow and make a difference in the community. Also love to support young musicians, as I am raising a few."
"It (Glitter Ball) is a great event that is not stuffy and you can let your hair down!"
Thank you all for your kindness, support and continued affirmation that we're meeting our goals and making our community a better place every day.
