The TV travel show "OFFICIAL BEST OF WASHINGTON 2011" will showcase Salon Rouge and the Wild Iris Inn during this year's show!

 

The show features several businesses from all over Washington State in various travel and recreation categories, each selected as "Best of Washington for 2011". Salon Rouge was selected as "Official Best Salon and Day Spa" and the Wild Iris Inn was selected as "Official Best Romantic Retreat."

 

Salon Rouge is an exquisite boutique salon and day spa, providing expert hair design and spa service and is located at 623 Morris St. and on the web at Salon Rouge. The charming Wild Iris Inn features a blend of the modern luxuries and upscale services, complimented with the traditional amenities of an intimate Bed and Breakfast. The Wild Iris is located at 121 Maple, LA Conner and on the web at Wild Iris.  

 

The "Best of Washington" production crews were on location in La Conner in late August. The show is projected to air in the Seattle market on KONG TV at 4pm on October 1st and then nationally on the Discovery Channel on October 3rd. Show segments are now available on the Official Best Of website.

The 2011 Quilt Festival 

Hosted by The La Conner Quilt and Textile Museum

Quilt Festival

September 30; October 1 and 2

Friday: 9:30am-5pm 

Saturday: 9:30am-5pm 

Sunday: 10am-4pm

$10 donation; includes both venues. 

Celebrate the art of quilting at the 2011 Quilt Festival. Juried & Judged quilts at Maple Hall and the La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum; fabulous workshops and quilt events are taking place within walking distance of Maple Hall & the La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum. 

Maple Hall: Juried & Judged show, demonstrations by Nancy's Needlers, specialty vendors, silent auction, and quilt appraiser, Beverly Dunivent. Beverly will be available for quilt appraisals for a fee, by appointment only. Call 360-466-4288.

La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum: featuring "Mixed Greens" by the Pacific Northwest African American Quilters; "Together" by Canadian fiber artists paired with artists of other Media; and a special exhibit of "Spirit of the West" by the Association of Pacific West Quilters. 

 

While in La Conner, enjoy the six-week long Quilt Walk in La Conner Shops.

Skagit Community Band Presents:

A BRASS EXPLOSION .. "A Celebration of Brass Music" 

Saturday, October 15, 7:30pm

Joining the Skagit Community Band for the opening of their 2011-2012 season will be the Basically Brass Choir under the direction of David Soiseth. Under the direction of Vince Fejeran, the SCB concert season kicks off with selections by Rimsky-Korsakov, Vaughan Williams, Darius Milhaud, Johnny Cowell and Kent Stelby. The Basically Brass Choir will be performing the music of John Williams, Aaron Copland as well as antiphonal brass works of Giovanni Gabrieli.

Tickets are $15 Adult, $10 seniors/students, and $30 for family. Children 12 years and under free when accompanied by an adult.
