Tulip Frolic Parade

Tulip Festival Begins!
Welcome to the 28th Annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, April 1-30. We are pleased to share our small corner of the world with you. La Conner is a beautiful area between the mountains, the river, the farmlands and the salt water. La Conner is Tulip Central and home to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival Parade, the Tulip Pedal, Tulip Art Shows, and Tulip Flightseeing Excursions taking off on the Swinomish Channel. La Conner offers the only waterfront lodging, shopping, and dining in Skagit Valley. Plan on spending a couple of days to explore La Conner and the Skagit Valley...Washington's Backyard!
Tulip Flights
Skagit Valley Flightseeing Excursions Flightseeing excursions will operate from the La Conner City Dock (at the foot of Washington Street) every Saturday and Sunday, April 2 - 24 between 12pm and 6pm. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis and are not bookable in advance. The fare will be $50 per person (with a two-passenger minimum) for a 15-minute flight. Payment can be made by cash, check or credit card. Every Saturday and Sunday, April 2 - 24, you'll have the opportunity to fly directly off the water from Kenmore at the north end of Lake Washington in Seattle at 11am and arrive only 20 minutes later in downtown La Conner. You'll have several hours to relax, have lunch, and walk around La Conner before boarding the seaplane again for another 20 minute flight back to Kenmore at 6pm. These flights can be booked online or by calling Kenmore Air reservations between 7am and 7pm at 866.435.9524.

The La Conner Ice Cream Tower opens April 1st. They will now be serving Hot Dogs, Ice Cream, Hawaiian Shave Ice, and Espresso! Offering homemade cones! Vintage La Conner
Vintage La Conner is selling raffle tickets for two queen size quilts that were made by Hannah Thompson, an 88 year old woman from the Comforters Quilt Guild in Tacoma. She gave these quilts to the sister of one of our Soroptimist members, Linda Nurnberger, and asked that they be donated to Soroptimist La Conner for our thrift store, Vintage La Conner. Each quilt raffle ticket is $1 or 6 for $5. The raffle will take place the end of April. For more information about these quilts, please call Linda at Vintage - 466-4017.

The La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum
Needlework workshop: A Visual Anthology of Art and Literature April 30, 2011, 1:00. Join art historian Susan Olds for an armchair adventure exploring the needlework theme in art and contemporary fiction. A popular new literary genre, the "needlework novel" reflects the renewed interest in domestic arts, especially needle crafts. Fueled over the past ten years by readers' appetites, the publishing world has produced a bumper crop of novels and mysteries centering on the themes of knitting, lace-making, weaving, quilting and a variety of embroidery arts.
