The Art Of Executive Gift Giving
Executive Gift Giving should take some thought and planning
Even in troubled economic times, executive gift giving, whether to clients or employees, is still a vital part of building and maintaining successful business relationships. But what exactly should we be buying? The art of executive gift giving is tricky and not always apparent. It's very important to have a plan and put some serious thought into the whole enterprise. Here are a few tips to keep in mind for your executive holiday shopping this year.

Impress for less:  Although the economy shows signs of rebounding, it's still prudent to make and stick to a budget when planning executive gift giving. Inexpensive doesn't have to be cheap. There are many quality promotional items at your disposal that have high perceived value and lasting power. By doing your research, or better yet getting professionals on board, identifying current trends in the industry is easy and can land you some great, inexpensive gifts for your clients.

Be creative: Once you have identified what's hot in the industry, your creative juices need to take over. The ultimate goal of executive gift giving is to make a lasting impression that will keep your customers coming back for more. This is easier said than done if you want to separate yourself from the rest of the pack.

I have a teacher friend who exemplies this phenomenon nicely. At the end of the year, his desk was swamped with gifts! It was hard for him to keep them all straight but there were some that made a huge impact. That's because the students...

Made it personal:
The most memorable gift he ever received was a golf ball that a student had decorated himself. It didn't cost much but the effort and thought he put into it has stayed with my friend for years. The student knew that his teacher loved golf and took that as a starting point. Ideally, in the process of doing business with your clients, you have come to learn something about them and their interests. Cater to this knowledge and make your ad specialty gift selections personal.

Made it useful:
The 'World's Greatest Teacher' desk ornament has wonderful sentiment but a desk full of them really isn't practical. The greatest gifts my teacher friend received were ones he could use within the classroom or at home. The same principal goes for executive gifts. Finding something both thoughtful and useful is best discussed with your ad specialty partner as they are well-versed in the art of making an impression.

Promotional items can be purchased to please anyone form the gadget lover to the chocoholic. A little thought and effort on your part, combined with a hard working promotional company can go a long way to impressing and leaving your mark with your customers.
