 With today's push towards products that are environmentally friendly, some 'creative' marketing on the part of manufacturers has left us with varying degress of eco-friendliness. Our desire to become GREEN has left us in a gray area. What exactly constitues a green product? There are those in the industry who participate in 'green washing' - passing off a product as environmentally friendly when it is not.
To be sure, ask questions of your suppliers. A good supplier will either know, or find out for you, exactly how a product was made and what properties make it 'green'. It is never a bad idea to make your values known with respect to eco-friendly alternatives and to even have your own checklist ahead of time. With very little regulation in place to monitor the eco-friendly tag, it basically comes down to how you define it. Just remember that an informed buyer will always be a happy one.
