This is Christian Education Sunday
This Sunday, September 30, more than 25 third graders will process into 11:00 am worship with the Bibles they have received from Reveille. They each will be recognized by name before they go to sit with their parents. If you look their way during the service you will see boys and girls exploring the Bible. When the scriptures are read during the service, parents will help their children find the passages and follow along. In many ways it is a holy moment in the life of the church as these children become familiar with their Bibles and begin a journey that will last a lifetime as they grow in understanding God's love revealed throughout the Bible.
Also during this service we will recognize and dedicate the adults who have made a commitment to be part of our Teaching and Learning Ministries as teachers, counselors, mentors and administrators working with children, youth and adults.

Stop Hunger Now Returning in October
Reveille members of all ages will join together on Sunday, October 14 to help those in the world who are hungry. In this easy and rewarding multi-generational event, our Reveille family will form a human assembly line in the new youth area to package meals consisting of rice, dehydrated vegetables, and flavoring mix that includes 21 essential vitamins and minerals that can be easily shipped and stored for five years. This year we will package 20,000 meals, doubling what we have done in the past!
You can sign up for one of two shifts on October 14: 9:30-10:30 am or 11:00 am-12:00 noon. We'll need 100 people for each shift to meet our goal. To participate, please sign up here, email Mark Dozier or call the church office, 359-6041, ext. 111. It is extremely important that we have an accurate count of volunteers because our numbers will determine how many packing stations we set up.

Youth News
Sometimes people don't get along. We tend to spend our time with the people we feel closest to, often people like us, who share our interests. Yet Jesus calls us to love those who seem unlovable, to love the least, lost and most different from us, even to love our enemies. On Sunday, September 30, youth group will focus on how we can learn to love the unlovable.
Our schedule is
4:30 pm - Middle school youth group/high school choir
5:30 pm - Dinner ($3)
6:00 pm - High school youth group/middle school choir
Next Sunday, October 7, youth group will not meet. We encourage all of you to come watch our four Reveille Frisbee teams play in the Ultimate Frisbee Tournament at Collegiate School's main campus.
Middle school youth: The fall middle school retreat at Eagle Eyrie (Lynchburg, VA) happens November 9-11. The band this fall is StereoReel. The retreat includes worship, small groups, and free time with hundreds of other middle schoolers from across Virginia. To register, please get at check, made out to Reveille UMC, for $120 to Dwayne by October 8.

Let's Go Golfing
Take a swing and do some good on October 10. This summer Reveille sent 36 middle schoo l youth and 11 adults to repair homes and construct wheelchair ramps for those in need through the Jeremiah Project. Jeremiah Project is sponsoring a fundraising golf tournament and Reveille hopes to produce at least one foursome to play. For more information contact Dwayne Stinson or Stephen Coleman. The tournament begins at Colonial Heritage Golf Club in Williamsburg with a shotgun start at noon on the 10th. It will be a great day of golf and fellowship, all to support missions.

King and Bruny Present Music
and Needlework Program
October 14
On Sunday, October 14 the Wesleyan Fellowship and Covenant classes will join together in the chapel for a program led by Dennis King and Kevin Bruny. The program will begin immediately following the 8:30 am service. It will include varied music as well as a presentation about the artistry of Reveille's needlepoint works. The needlepoint has been a labor of love from many of our Reveille family and will be presented in detailed photographs in addition to the stories they have to tell.

Reveille Youth Play Frisbee, Grant Wishes
"I wish I could...." So many of us utter those words: "I wish I could tour Europe" or "go hang gliding" or "get an A on my next test." With enough time and money, we often fulfill those wishes. For some, though, time runs out before the opportunity arrives. That is when the Make-A-Wish Foundation steps in, granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
On October 7, 50 of Reveille's youth will compete with youth from other churches in Welborne United Methodist Church's annual Ultimate Frisbee Tournament. All proceeds go to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Last year Reveille contributed nearly $800 to the event.
The tournament runs from 1:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, October 7, on the main (Moreland) campus of Collegiate School. Please come out and support our youth as they compete not to win, but to serve.

Music Ministry Notes
There is still time to join one of Reveille's choirs, where you will work on inspirational music based on scripture. Chancel Choir (adults) not only leads music at our 11:00 am (traditional) service, but is also preparing for two Christmas concerts. We are currently working on a 20-minute masterwork by Cecilia McDowell (British composer, born in 1951), which is based on medieval Christmas chants.
Primary Choir (children in first and second grades) and Cherub Choir (children age four through kindergarten) will be part of the children's choirs Christmas musical, Camel-lot, along with Elementary Choir (children in grades three through five), who will hold the principal speaking and solo parts.
Reveille's Youth Choirs (grades six through twelve) are currently working on music for Youth Choir JAM, with guest conductor, Mark Miller, and our BIG summer presentation, Jesus Christ Superstar, by Andrew Lloyd Weber, in which every one of YOU has the opportunity to be a part.
For more information on any of our choirs, please email Director of Music Ministries Cathy Armistead or Assistant Director of Music Ministries Tamara Nicely or call the church office, 359-6041, ext. 123. Please register children and youths for choirs here.
