This Sunday, September 23
10:30 am
This year, Reveille Day will be particularly exciting because it is the day we will consecrate our wonderful new addition. As usual we will have a combined service at 10:30 am in the sanctuary. Music will be provided by CrossPoint, the Chancel Choir and the Youth Choir.
Preacher: The Rev. Dr. Jim Noland Scripture: Psalm 1:1-8; Mark 9:30-37 "Bearing Fruit" This worship service will be followed by a catered lunch on the grounds, and while there will be no charge for the meal, donations will be gratefully accepted. There will be fun and food for all ages, so dress casually and be a part of this special day in the life of our church. |

Reveille Has a New Logo!
In February, Church Council discussed the creation of a new logo which would capture the energy from the completion of the expansion and reflect the spiritual growth of our church and all our ministries. Our vision was a logo completely unique to Reveille to be used on all of Reveille's communications from the weekly bulletin, website, and correspondence to t-shirts and mugs.
The Communications Committee took our idea along with a number of suggestions and ran with it. The committee, consisting of Glenda Lewis, John Moerner, Josh Noland, Andy Poarch, Russ Smith, Cheryl Arrington, Abby Kocher, and Katie Anthony, began brainstorming in the spring. They adopted some key guiding principles as they began: (1) creation of a new logo that would represent Reveille's traditional roots, while updating the look to reflect our re-energized emphasis on our mission statement (2) representation of our Christian mission instead of focus on the architecture of our church (3) identification of Reveille as a United Methodist Church with flexibility to represent our many diverse ministry areas, and (4) creation of a logo that would be equally dynamic in all mediums-in print on stationery and business cards, electronically on the web and newsletter, or on t-shirts and mugs.
As the Holy Spirit worked among them, the members of this group complemented each other with their special gifts and professional experience in marketing, graphic and web design, and corporate leadership. The final logo is a result of many creative hours, many discussions, and much hard work. The green logo color was purposely selected to represent growth and vitality to mirror our expanding ministries and physical expansion.
Our new logo, approved by Church Council in August, reveals the word "Reveille" resting on and grounded by the words "United Methodist Church." On this foundation of the United Methodist Church, Reveille is built. The Methodist cross and flames are represented beneath the words Reveille United Methodist Church. Instead of using the traditional cross and two red flames of the United Methodist Church, this logo has a very intentionally unique cross and flames. The cross mirrors the cross sitting on the altar in the sanctuary and the cross depicted in the woodwork behind the altar in the chapel emphasizing the tradition and history of Reveille. In the logo, on either side of the cross, the two flames begin at the cross and diverge into three fluid lines of movement and energy. These lines represent Reveille's tripartite vision of worship, discipleship, and service. Reveille's energy begins at the cross to glorify God through worship, to nurture disciples, and moving outward to make a difference in God's world by serving others.
Amazingly, as with any piece of art, each one of us may look at the logo and have a completely different interpretation of the design. On Church Council some have seen flowing water, flames, and wings. You may see something special to you.
Look for the new logo on our bulletins and website in the coming weeks, and watch as the new logo is completely incorporated into all our communications throughout next year. This is an exciting time to be involved at Reveille!

Chair, Church Council

Help Feed the Homeless
On Thursday, September 27, Reveille members will be blessed to be able to serve a hot meal of roasted chicken, cheesy potato casserole, green beans and dessert to some of R ichmond's homeless population. There are several ways in which you can help:
- You can provide one of the casseroles. The recipe, with drop-off instructions, can be picked up from the sign-up board near the elevators on the red carpet or in the fellowship hall.
- You can serve at Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church for an hour or two. Meet us at Reveille at 11:00 am and carpool or meet us at the site. If needed, child care is available while serving the meal, please email Carol Uzzle discipleship@reveilleumc.org or call her at 359-6041, ext. 117.
- You may also provide gallon-size plastic bag, plastic Tupperware-like containers (used containers are fine) and 55-gallon trash bags. If you would like to donate any of these items, please bring them to the collection area by the elevators (on the red carpet).
For more information, please email Kay Craven or call the church office, 359-6041, ext. 111.
