New Beginning
As we near the completion of our new addition, the Church Council is actively discussing and prayerfully imagining the engaging possibilities of the new building. Above all we want to see the excitement of this new space channeled into our ministries and outreach.
The building committee did a phenomenal job taking our initial dream expansion project and tailoring it to fit within the pledged amount of funds. This meant that about 1/3 of the project had to be removed from the original design for consideration at a later date. Yet the amazing result includes Reveille's hope of creating a larger, brighter, more inspiring chapel, a large dedicated youth space, an enlarged choir room, and a wonderful new welcome area with the convenience of restrooms located near the sanctuary. Since no bank financing was sought, the project encompassed the basics: bricks, mortar, and landscaping.
Here is our opportunity for a new beginning. Very soon we will have an inspiring new chapel with a serenity and presence similar to our wonderful sanctuary, yet with an intimacy that will create a different worship experience. Very soon we will have a new welcome area unlike any space Reveille has ever had. In this space guests and members can have coffee fellowship and develop new friendships. In this space there will be new opportunities for better communication for highlighting outreach and for involvement in all areas of discipleship. In short, very soon we will have a tremendous opportunity to expand our ministries.
An additional opportunity for a new beginning is in furnishing these spaces. Our original building project did not include any furnishings because the focus was on maximizing the return on our investment in the space itself. A wish list has been developed for furnishing these areas. At the top of the list are new chairs for the chapel. No longer will there be wooden pews but comfortable chairs that will have flexibility in arranging. The second key chapel item is a new piano and, at a later time, new chancel furniture.
For the welcome area we would like to have an information desk and furniture useful for casual interaction in sitting areas that will be user friendly for all ages. For announcements, two flat-screen TVs would be ideal.
In the youth space, dream furnishings include white boards, kitchenette items (refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, pizza warmer), sofas, two flat-screen TV/DVD combination displays for the middle and high school classrooms, and two arcade-quality, durable game tables.
Prayerfully consider a gift to a general fund for furnishing the new building. This entire building project has been very Spirit driven from the outset...the calling of the multi-talented members of the building committee, the alignment of design with funding, the diligent work of HuffMorris Architects and Taylor & Parrish, and the timely payment of pledges to the campaign. It truly seems as though the Holy Spirit has been with us throughout this project, and we look forward to a Spirit-led vitality of our ministries and outreach in the days and years to come.

Extra Special Music Offering this Sunday:
Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor
In the fashion of a Bach mini concert, which immediately followed worship for Bach's parishioners in the 1700's, you are invited to remain for the postlude on Sunday, March 18, when you will be treated to the famous Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, BWV 565.
Until the early 1980's, this work was solely attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach; however, in light of several compositional idiosyncrasies, some historians question its origin. This has no effect, however, upon the delight to the ear, nor upon the fact that this is easily the most recognizable organ work on the planet. Please stay a few extra minutes and celebrate Bach's birthday by indulging in this masterwork.

Wanted: Lonely Vacation Homes
Do you own a vacation home that sits sadly by the seashore or that stares sullenly over the slopes? If your home needs a friend, Reveille's youth have an opportunity for you. Our youth are sponsoring a silent auction on April 18, culminating with the announcement of winning bids following the Wonderful Wednesday dinner. The youth are raising funds for their summer missions, including the 47 middle school youth and adults attending Jeremiah Project in July, the team of 10 youth and four adults traveling to build homes in El Salvador, and the high school team that will work with Habitat for Humanity on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. We are seeking donations of new items, particularly from local businesses, but also from individuals and families, that we can offer for auction. Vacation homes, particularly, are in demand. If you are willing to donate the use of your beach or mountain home, you will do more than provide companionship for your lonely house; you will make a difference to those in need who benefit from the mission trips this auction supports. To donate an item for the auction, contact Dwayne Stinson or Kay Craven.

Lent and Easter Outreach Offering
Our 2012 Lent and Easter outreach offering will be shared between two worthy causes: Richmond Friends of the Homeless feeding program and the One Great Hour of Sharing offering.
Reveille's participation with Friends of the Homeless is ongoing, and funding is particularly needed as Friends of the Homeless struggles to meet the needs of so many in Richmond who simply don't have enough to eat.
The One Great Hour of Sharing offering provides for the administrative costs of United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR) so that 100% of the donations you give to special offerings for disaster relief will be used just for relief efforts and not for administrative costs.
Donations to this offering may be in any amount. If you would like to have your donation acknowledged in the Easter printout of these gifts, be sure to complete a yellow order form and return it with your check or cash no later than Wednesday, March 28. Forms may be printed out here or picked up in the narthex, fellowship hall or church office.

In a world where people sitting side-by-side text message one another, deep relationships must receive priority. While Tweeting 140 characters or fewer, texting and messaging constantly and amassing hundreds, even thousands of "friends" and "followers" through social media, when interviewed, teens state that quality relationships are their highest priority. This Sunday night, March 18, at youth group, we will consider what it means to be in deep relationships with each other and with God.
Our schedule is normal:
4:30 p.m. - Middle school youth group/high school choir
5:30 p.m. - Dinner for middle school
6:00 p.m. - High school youth group/middle school choir
High school students: To sign up for the summer mission trip to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, please send $100, a student waiver, and an emergency medical form to Dwayne in the church office by April 1. The trip is August 5-11, 2012 and we will work with Habitat for Humanity. More details are available at youth group.

Thanks to your support, about 175 people will get a hot meal of chicken, potato casserole, green beans and homemade dessert on Thursday, March 22. Can you provide a potato casserole? Will you bake a dessert? Can you help serve the noon time meal? We meet at Reveille about 10:45 a.m. and are back by 12:30. Child care will be provided if you contact Carol Uzzle by Tuesday, March 20. Casserole recipes and drop off instructions, as well as sign-up sheets, are on the bulletin boards near the welcome center and in the fellowship hall. Clothing Donations for
Prison Ministry on Hold Temporarily
Donna Fay Kessel, our prison ministry team leader, reports that the Chesterfield Women's Detention and Diversion Center is in the process of moving into their new addition. Personnel will move sometime in the next two months, and the new dorm rooms will open at that time. This building will greatly alleviate the small spaces they are in now. This is an exciting time for them, especially for the GED teacher who has a new classroom. Until everyone is moved and settled, we have been asked to not bring any clothes for the clothes closet.

Easter Egg Hunt - March 31
Reveille's Annual Easter Egg Hunt for children through the second grade is set for March 31 at 10:30 a.m. The morning will begin with gathering activities in the fellowship hall. If the weather permits the age-level Easter egg hunts will be outside.
For this fun-filled family event young children through kindergarten need to bring a basket for gathering eggs. First and second graders will not need a basket for their Easter egg hunt scavenger hunt.
Parents are asked to bring a light snack or refreshment to share at the end of the hunt. Please contact Amy Donald at 741-5355 if you would like to help out or have questions. See you there!

Vacation Bible School
July 29 - August 3
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
Dive in and discover God's underwater universe! Explore the depths of God's Word at VBS 2012 with Cokesbury's Operation Overboard - Dare To Go Deep With God!
In this action-packed adventure, our children will swim with humpback whales and seahorses, scuba through a vibrant coral reef, and take a personal submarine to the ocean floor, where eels and octopi play. Through interactive lessons that are easy for kids to apply to their lives today, they will go deep into God's Word, exploring Bible stories of people who revealed deep faith by knowing how to do the following:
Depend on God
Dare to care
Claim Jesus
Choose to follow
Change the world
(Information above copied from Cokesbury website with permission.)
VBS is designed for children who will be three years old by September 30, 2012, through children entering second grade this fall. Parents of children in the three-year-old classes are expected to assist in VBS at least two days.
The registration fee for VBS is $25 per child. You may register online here. The registration fee includes an interactive CD with related music and games for each family. Space is limited and a waiting list will be maintained when VBS is full. Be sure to register today.
For additional information or questions, contact Rev. Carol Uzzle here or at 359-6041, ext. 117, or Corbin Neuner here.

Day Camp
July 29-August 3
9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Day Camp at Reveille is a fun-filled week for rising third through fifth graders as they seek to live out John Wesley's motto "Do all the good you can..." This summer the day campers will focus on the ways the light of God's love shines through their concrete acts of lo ve and mercy within the Richmond community. A highlight of the week will be preparing and serving the Thursday noon meal at Richmond Friends of the Homeless.
During the week the day campers will make new friends their own age and will also visit in the homes of Reveille members. They will participate in gleaning fields through the Society of St Andrew and Shalom Farms. The food gleaned will go to Richmond-area food banks and also to high-poverty "food deserts" - low-income neighborhoods that do not have grocery stores. An optional overnighter is offered on Thursday evening following a family fellowship meal. Through a variety of hands-on activities our older elementary children will become the hands, feet and heart of God as God's light shines through them.
The Day Camp registration fee is $40 per child. Registration is limited. Once Day Camp is filled a waiting list will be maintained. Register online here.
For additional information, contact Rev. Carol Uzzle here or at 359-6041, ext. 117, or Ellie Speer here or 282-4919.
