Alternative Gifts Program Returns
Glorious Gifts Here December 4 and 11
Glorious Gifts is an alternative marketplace where you can purchase services or goods for charitable organizations as gifts in honor of friends and loved ones, and these gifts will support eight of Reveille's outreach projects. It's a way to purchase one gift that benefits several people at once. For each Glorious Gift that you buy, you will receive a card to present to your friend or loved one. At the same time one of Reveille's projects will be able to purchase needed supplies or services.
You will be able to shop for Glorious Gifts in the fellowship hall from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on December 4 and December 11, and on-line shopping will be available from November 20 to December 16.
The eight outreach projects participating in Glorious Gifts this year are Friends of Barnabas (Honduras Medical Mission Trip), Youth Mission Trips in Summer 2012, CARITAS, Friends of the Homeless, Rebuilding Together of Richmond, prison ministry, Westview on the James camperships, and Stop Hunger Now. Beginning with this issue of The Window, a couple of the participating projects will be highlighted.
CARITAS
Congregations Around Richmond Involved To Assure Shelter, otherwise known as CARITAS, was formed to address the lack of temporary housing and meet the needs of area homeless persons. Each year, Reveille hosts up to 28 people from the Family Focus Program. Reveille provides the evening meal, breakfast, lunches for the following day and overnight lodging. Volunteers greet the guests, serve dinner, pack lunches, and stay overnight, serving breakfast the next morning. In the evening, volunteers transport guests to and from laundry and shower facilities and help entertain the children. CARITAS at Reveille has a long history and has typically involved over 100 volunteers a year. Volunteers often report that their experience with CARITAS is very rewarding and gives them a chance to step out of their ordinary lives.
Stop Hunger Now
Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger-relief organization whose mission is to end hunger in our lifetime. The organization provides food and life-saving aid to the world's most destitute and hungry, primarily through school feeding programs and shipments to areas in crisis situations. Stop Hunger Now meals are highly nutritious, dehydrated meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables, flavorings, and 21 essential vitamins and minerals. Meals are packaged by volunteers through a fun and engaging assembly line process. The meals are easy to transport, store, and distribute to those in greatest need. Reveille's goal is to package at least 20,000 meals each fall. Each meal package provides food for six people. On October 16 of this year, over 100 Reveille volunteers packaged over 11,000 meals, and plans are being made for another packaging session in 2012.

New Elementary Choir Director: Emily Bogaev
We are very pleased to announce that our own Emily Bogaev will direct the Elementary Choir January through April 2012. Emily is a senior at Hanover High School and has grown up at Reveille. She has participated in Reveille's children's choirs, youth choirs and youth group. During the summer of 2009 Emily was our summer music intern, helping to plan and implement our Tampa mission trip, Vacation Bible School and Kaleidoscope Music and Worship Camp.
At school Emily is a cornerstone of her music program, having participated in Women's Chamber Ensemble, Highlights, Sound FX and Satin Dolls, and has leadership responsibilities this year for Chamber and Satin Dolls. Emily was selected to be one of only two representatives from Hanover County to participate in the Virginia Honors Choir next weekend for the Virginia Music Educators Convention in Norfolk.
From this impressive resume you may have guessed that Emily wants to major in music when she goes to college next year. You would be correct.
We know that you are as proud of Emily as we are, and will do all you can to encourage and support her and the Elementary Choir during this exciting time.

Turn Trash Into Cash
Recycle Your Ink Cartridge
Stop! That ink cartridge you are about to toss in the trash could help support a middle school youth on her way to Jeremiah Project or a high school youth headed to El Salvador. Reveille's youth accept many varieties of inkjet printer cartridges. We collect them and every few months ship them for recycling. A few weeks later, a check arrives for youth missions. While this recycling does not raise large amounts, it turns trash into cash.
Please save your Apple, HP, Dell, Canon, Lexmark and Sharp cartridges from home and work. Place each cartridge in a plastic sandwich bag and drop them in Dwayne Stinson's mail cubby in the church office. For more information about the cartridges we can accept, please check here. The program does not accept Epson cartridges.
