Making a Transformative Difference in God's World
Your pledged gift for Reveille's 2012 operating budget can really help fulfill Reveille's vision of making a transformative difference in God's world. Moments of grace, both large and small, can have a meaningful impact for our congregation, for our youth, for our community, and for our world.
Here are examples of how your pledged gift on Consecration Sunday, October 30, makes a difference
for our community:
- 20 years of Stephen Ministry training for 72 Reveille members to confidentially care for those in need, both in our congregation and in our community.
- 200+ people regularly volunteering for Reveille Outreach ministries during the year.
- Over 80 volunteers preparing hundreds of lunches for Richmond Friends of the Homeless.
- Helping children and families through the Swansboro Mentoring Program.
- Bringing the beauty of God's world and God's Word to over 100 campers sponsored at Westview on the James over the last five years.
- Over 40 volunteers repairing and improving Richmond houses and the lives of families through Rebuilding Together of Richmond.
- Supporting homeless families through CARITAS.

Simplify your giving with EFT
Instead of dropping an envelope in the offering plate each Sunday, you may want to consider a simpler way to give to Reveille United Methodist Church - Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT).
EFT allows your offering to be debited automatically from your bank account on a monthly basis. There is no cash to gather, no checks to write, and no envelopes to track down. EFT also is easier for church staff, since there are no deposit slips and no trips to the bank. It is even simpler than paying online through BillPay or a similar account, which still sends Reveille a check.
You don't have to wait until you make or renew your pledge to begin using Electronic Funds Transfer; it can be arranged at any time of year. To complete an EFT authorization form or for more information, please contact Glynis Holcomb, Reveille's financial manager, here or by phone at 359-6041, ext. 118.

Trophies won; wishes granted
Seven bodies race across the field, passing the 175-gram white disk from person to person. The opposing team leaps to block the throw but fails. The Frisbee flies past the orange cones into waiting hands, which secure it tightly. Score!
On Sunday, October 2, forty-two youth represented Reveille in the 7th Annual Welborne United Methodist Church Ultimate Frisbee Tournament. This tournament, sponsored by Welborne's youth ministry, has raised thousands of dollars through the years for cancer research and hunger relief, and this year, for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Reveille's participants donated nearly $800 towards the cause and brought home three trophies.
Our middle school team remained undefeated until a close loss to Mount Pisgah in the championship. Still they brought home the trophy for the "Spirit of the Game," the award for goo d sportsmanship, chosen by the opposing teams.
Reveille fielded two senior high teams, one of which won the high school "Spirit of the Game" with the highest rating possible - 5 out of 5. The second high school team, undefeated all day, won the high school tournament championship.
Our youth brought home trophies, but more importantly, they showed others what it means to behave as Christ would. They raised money that will grant wishes to terminally ill children, and that is the greatest prize of all.

Update on September's Piano Benefit Concerts
Thanks to all who were able to support the benefit concerts on September 24 and 25. The playing was magnificent and we have begun the new chapel piano fund. This new instrument will not only lead worship music for years to come, it will also be the primary instrument for weddings and memorial services in the chapel and will accompany future children's and youth musicals. If you are interested in helping to secure a quality worship instrument for the new chapel, please contact Cathy Armistead here or call 359-6041, ext. 123.
