Responding to Grace

TopMaking a Transformative Difference
in God's World

Your pledged gift for Reveille's 2012 operating budget can really help fulfill Reveille's vision of making a transformative difference in God's world. Moments of grace, both large and small, can have a meaningful impact for our congregation, for our youth, for our community, and for our world.

Here are examples of how your pledged gift on Consecration Sunday, October 30 makes a difference

for our youth:

  • Weekly middle and high school youth group fellowship.
  • The Youth Choir celebrating God through music.
  • Participating in Youth Sunday, and year-round in worship services.
  • 110+ youth from 43 Richmond schools participating and energizing Reveille ministries.
  • 23 youth committing to the 2011/2012 confirmation class.
  • 50 Reveille college students supported with care packages sent before spring finals.

Go to what conference?!

Where? When? I don't remember any conference!

For my sixtieth birthday a friend gave me a pullover emblazoned on the front with the following: Over What Hill?! Where? When? I Don't Remember Any Hill! I wear it occasionally to remind me I am a bit older than the young adult group.

The average Reveille churchgoer can be forgiven if a similar thought is their reaction when the subject of the Virginia Annual Conference comes up. Other than a short yearly report in The Reveille Window, little mention is made of it throughout the year.

Yet Reveille, as a United Methodist Church, is a connectional church. What goes on at the Annual Conference is not only important to the church-at-large, but to Reveille itself. Policy decisions are made, financial issues are addressed, and plans approved as to what face United Methodism presents to the world. Decisions are reported and approved as to ministerial appointments. Reports on the use and disposition of physical plants are brought forward for approval. Reveille, through its lay members to Annual Conference and pastoral staff, plays a direct role in these decisions.

Annual Conference is more than that, though. It is also celebration, education, fellowship, ordination, Bible study, worship, and of course music and singing!

 Wonderful Wednesday 30%

Come with us to experience events of the 2011 Conference for the three nights of October 12, November 19, and November 26.Be a part through actual videos of great messages, sermons, and reports. Find out more about what being a connectional church means and Reveille's part in the wonderful worldwide work of the United Methodist Church.
