Fifth Sunday Challenge Continues
Sunday, July 31, is the fifth Sunday of this month. As you may recall, the Stewardship Committee issued a challenge that on fifth Sundays each of us give an extra $5, $10 or any amount we can on these extra Sundays to see the abundance that an extra gift can bring to God's kingdom. Will you give it a try?

Got Faith!
Kaleidoscope is a music camp sponsored by The Fellowship of United Methodist Musicians in Worship Arts. This year Reveille will send a group of twelve to Kaleidoscope - eight children and four adults. During the week of August 1 through August 5 our children will explore the theme Got Faith! with daily choir rehearsals and worship, along with taking classes in handbells, Orff, crafts, scripture and worship, indoor and outdoor recreation, and The Zone. All of our adults will be involved in leadership roles.
This music camp is in its 33rd year and takes place at the Virginia United Methodist Assembly Center (VUMAC), in Blackstone, VA. All are invited to attend our closing worship service on Thursday, August 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the VUMAC auditorium.

Journey 101: Loving God
Have you signed up yet to participate in Journey 101: Loving God? This six-week class will be led by our senior pastor, Jim Noland, and will begin Sunday, August 7 at 5:00 p.m. Classes will conclude at 7:00 p.m.
The Loving God classes stress loving God through taking on regular spiritual disciplines as a means of receiving God's grace, resulting in the transformation of our hearts. Topics covered include worship, prayer, study, guidance, fasting, and discerning God's will.
These classes are similar in format to the Alpha course beginning with a large group teaching experience followed by small group discussions.
Other classes in this series include Journey 101: Knowing God, which will be offered in November and December, and Journey 101: Serving God in January and February.
Through Journey 101: Loving God we anticipate that those participating will not only learn about and practice the spiritual disciplines around which the six weeks are built but will also form lasting relationships with a small group of other Christians who have gathered around their table each week. If such bonds do form, we encourage the small group to continue growing with the other two Journey 101 classes. It is our hope that these bonds will lead to the formation of a Small Group that will stay together for a longer period of time, growing together in intentional ways, and serving God together.
To register for Journey 101: Loving God, click here or contact Carol Uzzle, Minister for Teaching and Learning at 359-6041 ext. 117, if you do not have access to a computer.
Child care will be provided.

Power outage expected in August
As our construction proceeds, it will be necessary to shut off power to the church for a few days in August. The exact date depends upon Dominion Virginia Power, but we expect it to be the week of August 22, and we do not expect that it will interfere with Sunday services.

Sunday School for Children in August
Sunday School for children in August centers on building peace. In week one, the children will learn how Abigail extended hospitality in 1 Samuel 25:2-27, 32-33. Next, they will look at Amos, who is known for his emphasis on justice as seen in the book bearing his name. In week three, biblical figure Micah and the theme of obedience will be featured, along with the text found in Micah 4:1-5, 5:2-5a. Rounding out the month, the children will use Matthew 5:1-12 to explore how God's children work for peace.
