Journey 101: Loving God

Reveille's discipleship process involves loving God with our hearts, knowing God with our heads, and serving God with our hands.

Journey 101: Loving God will begin Sunday, August 7, meeting from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. This six-week course will end September 11. The Loving God classes stress loving God through taking on regular spiritual disciplines as a means of receiving God's grace, Bible study 2011resulting in the transformation of our hearts.Topics covered include worship, prayer, study, guidance, fasting and submission to God's will.

The Journey 101 course begins with a large group teaching experience led by Jim Noland, our senior pastor, followed by small group discussions.

Three classes are offered in the Journey 101 track.  Journey 101: Knowing God will be offered in November and December followed by Journey 101: Serving God in January and February.

Through Journey 101: Loving God we anticipate that those participating will not only learn about and practice the spiritual disciplines around which the six weeks are built but will also form lasting relationships with a small group of other Christians who have gathered around their table each week.  If such bonds do form, we encourage the small group to continue growing with the other two Journey 101 classes.  It is our hope that these bonds will lead to the formation of a small group that will stay together for a longer period of time, growing together in intentional ways and serving God together.

July Book Review: Heaven is for Real

On Wednesday, July 20, please join our own Stephen Coleman for a review of the #1 New York Times bestseller, Heaven is for Real, by Todd Burpo.

Heaven Is for Real is the true story of the four-year old son of a small-town Nebraska Heaven is for Realpastor, who during emergency surgery, slips from consciousness and enters heaven. He survives and begins talking about looking down to see the doctor operating on him, as well as seeing his dad praying in the waiting room. The family doesn't know what to believe, but as the details of Colton's experience unfold, the evidence becomes clear.

Told by his father, but often in Colton's own words, the disarmingly simple message is that heaven is a real place, that Jesus really loves children, and that we must be ready because there is a coming last battle. This story has taken many by storm and has impressed many a skeptic.

For more information about this and our other summer book reviews, please click here.

Join us for refreshments at 10:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall with the book review starting at 11:00 a.m.  Child care will be available.
